Now that we've won and that this missed shot is behind us, admit it : who thought it was going in and we were then going to lose after Miami took its first lead of the game with a few seconds left, in terrible fashion sending us back to past failures and big shots from other teams ?  :-*

I certainly screamed of terror

Would've sucked the life out of all of us. Smart would have immediately been on the trading block. Somebody would've been fired. Idk lol

I honestly thought it was an incredibly dumb shot when he took it. I realized it could go in, but that is not his game. He bailed us out with that shot. He is not a pull up off the dribble three point shooter and he got caught up in the moment

From the angle of the camera you could see when it left his hand he was short left. Was kinda glad Butler went into hero mode. He is not historically a good three point shooter.

I totally thought it was going in, because why wouldn't it? I mean, just about everything was going Miami's way at that point.

I was surprised.

When the play was unfolding, Jimmy with the ball in transition, a two point deficit, time a non-factor, and all the open space he had, I would’ve sworn he was taking it as close to the rim as he could, forcing contact, and letting the chips fall where they may.

Butler was in similar situations (with the ball in transition) several times in the series and only attempted it once (he made it). If you take a still shot of the play, you wouldn’t guess he pulls up for a jumper at the three.

He’s been so good the last two games that I went from surprised to relieved on the miss to stressed about securing the rebound to relieved when Horford finally came down with it. An insane sequence of events.

I kinda felt that he would go for the kill, and honestly i thought it was going in! As he launched the shot, i looked at the clock to see if there was gonna be some time left for the Cs. Thankfully it missed and Big Al got the rebound.

it was so typical of us, to get a big lead and try to kill the clock. Watching Smart chuck 3 after 3 as Miami got closer was infuriating. We are very very Stupid and even luckier to be going to The Finals....The IDIOT Squad is what we should be called really.

After a few quick rewatches, Jimmy didn’t have as much space between him and Horford as I previously thought.

A 3 on 3 in transition, Jimmy with the ball, Al backpedaling in a defensive stance, no help coming (Tatum’s sticking Strus after the previous play’s 3), plenty of time left, I would still expect him to try to beat Al off the dribble, initiate contact to provoke a foul call, and try to finish.

He did it over and over in the series to great success, it’s astonishing how he went with the pull-up.

The way he landed after the shot made me even happier he screwed his team on that shot.

It's about time we didn't have some garbage desperate shot go down.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I think the refs are the ones that screamed in terror.

All that work keeping this series even down to the wire before letting the C's finish it out and Butler almost won it.

Miami cannot win in a cleanly ref'd match because their strategy is the Pistons. Tatum was fouled just about every time he touched it.

All of those times Tatum tried to split the double and turned it over and everyone boo'ed, he was playing by the book. They were just all fouls. He's too quick to be stopped by a pincer and so they have to put a body on him or slap anything they can.

I don't think anyone was interested in watching the entire team foul out in the 3rd quarter though.

Jimmy took the shot for that reason. He wanted it on his terms and didn't believe he could win in OT. Good decision.

Miami fouls on almost every possession, sickening really.

I suspect he didn’t want OT

I can understand everything, except that at 4 min remaining with +11 on the scoreboard, our last 5 shots were attempted by Marcus Smart and none of them fell in. That I realy don't understand...
