No. Not even a little. Never and still don't go in for the wearing the same socks or eating the same meal or not touching the white line when entering the field of play or saying the wrong thing or praying before a game. None of it.

Says the guy who tanked our season by posting the GSW thread.

Lol.  I’m kidding, but I did cringe.  Voodoo magic.

Meh. I get it. But I seriously don't think that thread caused the two guys shooting the heck out of the ball in the 1st half of that game to take just 7 shots combined in the 2nd half.

Nope, it’s bad luck to be superstitious.

Mike

Well played.

Yes....didn't watch the games in this round. I taped them.

I thought I was brave so I sat down with my wife to watch game 6, turned the tv on and immediately the Heat went on a run. I looked at her, then changed the channel. I went back to it, the C's were still down and getting worse. I told her I'm not doing this again (with her).  Result was a Celtics loss.

Game 7, I purposely told her that I wasn't going to check my phone, or the tv to look to see how the C's were doing. Didn't watch the game in its entirety. I promised myself at 11:25, I would check to see the outcome. Checked and watch about 2 hours of post game interviews etc.

I took one for the team so they could win.

Next round I promised myself to watch every game - with wife.

I wore an old, ragged Celtics t-shirt for Game 7.  It's gotta be at least 10+ years old, and might date back to 2008.  At the very latest, 2010.  We're undefeated this season in the playoffs with that shirt:  3-0.

Do I wear it for every game of the Finals, or does that diminish its powers?  Maybe I just save it for the must win games.

Not really for the whole playoffs, but I realize there's a T-Shirt/Shorts combo I've been wearing on days the C's have road games, and they are 5-0 when I wear it. Games 4 and 6 against MIL, then the three games against MIA on the road they won. Didn't wear it Game 1 as I was away that day and that's the only road game they've lost since Game 3 against MIL. Decided, I can't take a chance and wore it for Game 7 Sunday and they won! It definitely doesn't work in the home games though lol, like Game 3 and 6 of the Miami series so lesson learned there.

I'll definitely be wearing it for the first two Finals Games and Game 5. Not Game 7 because we'll have obviously have won before then  ;)

I've worn a Havlicek jersey (from the 50th anniversary season) for both Game 7s so far.

But also been wearing a Celtics Pride t-shirt along with some other random Celtics t-shirts throughout the playoffs.

Lol.

Maybe it improved your performance.  True story, I studied abroad in Ireland, and would frequent a dog track.  My "method"?  Bet of the dog that took the last p--- heading to the gates.  I made way more than I lost, haha.

Lol. How did you come to that strategy? Any connection to the "p--- like a race horse" saying?

Nope.  I was there with Irish friends, and the first night I didn't have any betting sheet or anything, and I had no idea what I was doing.  But, while I was deciding who to put money on, this one dog took a wizz right as he was walking by, and I ran over and put money on him.  Didn't even know what the odds were.  I think I put down two pounds, and got like 32 back when I cashed out.  So, I kept going to it.  That night I walked away like +200 pounds (drinks on me for 8 roommates), and it's a strategy that did me well in return trips, as well.  You've got to be careful, though:  it's not any peeing dog, it's got to be the last one, haha.  And on races where no dogs peed?  I eventually learned not to put down money, because I rarely made out.

Like you, after that first night I figured the "race horse" expression must have something to do with it, but apparently not according to online explanations of the origin of the phrase.

(Cork Ireland was a trip back then.  Best semester of my life.)

Too funny. It may be an indicator of dominance - the last dog to mark their territory before competition. Or, they were just the best hydrated. Lol.

If I'm playing, I have no superstitions because I have a hand in the outcome. However, if I'm just a spectator/fan, I'm very superstitious. On a Celtics gameday, some article of clothing has to be green, and when I watch the game, I'm wearing a Celtics shirt. For game 7 against Miami, I was taking no chances, and wore my Bird jersey.

I thought I remember seeing multiple NBA Finals threads between the Celtics and Warriors on this site, before game 6 against Miami. Not only would I have never started those threads or responded in them, I had a hard time even clicking on those threads to read them.
