Good selections on both teams.

Watching the replay, one play with RobW stood out to me followed by several plays by GrantW.

In the 1st quarter, Miami put up a shot from the left wing, which missed. RobW had the weak side and stood there watching the shot assuming he would simply jump and snatch the rebound (great athlete, great length, etc.). Trouble was that Adebayo came up right behind Rob on the baseline, easily got inside position, got the offensive board, the putback layup and foul from behind by Rob.

GrantW subs in for Rob a few minutes later and proceeds to put his very stout body (decent athlete, not much length) into Adebayo every single time a shot went up. Grant didn't get every rebound, other Celtics rebounded some in the cleared out space, but Adebayo had one more offensive rebound the rest of the night. It was beautiful watching Grant focus on what he does well to help the team. Looked like that every Miami shot that went up, Grant was putting a body on somebody, over and over.

I realize that blocking out on rebounds is not emphasized in the pros, you see it some, but not consistently. The players are so big and athletic, they just go get the ball without even looking for someone to put a body on first. You see it all the time and it often results in offensive rebounds by the opponent. Just hope Rob was paying attention and that Ime will make a point of it during film sessions. Rob's improvement has been great to watch and is one reason the Celtics have been so good this season. Keep working.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Am I the only one worried that Bam is going to feel slighted by Jackson getting first-team over him, so he goes on to have a magnificent defensive series from here on out? 😬

Wow, Smart at 99-0! Impressive. Congrats to him and RW3. Well deserved!

What arss hat voter left smart completely off their ballot.  What a arse.

Obviously one of the biased journalists in LA who worships the Lakers. So absurd to leave him off the ballot.

Special shout-out to our sixth man D-White for getting three second team votes. One of only 14 guards in the league to get a vote, and one of only three guards who come off the bench who got multiple votes (Gary Payton II and Caruso also got more than one vote). He does all of the little things that help us win and his shooting is starting to revert to his mean. We are lucky to have him. Red always said “give me eight good guys” and that’s what Brad ensured when he traded for D-White and Theis.

To be fair, it seems possible someone on the opposite end may have given all their first team votes to our starting lineup: Jayson, Jaylen and Horford all got one first team vote.

Just wondering, was there a 100 voters? I didn’t see any player with 100 votes.
Is it possible there was only 99 total?

There were 500 total first place votes, with 5 first place votes per ballot.  So yes, 100 voters.

So the Celtics starting five have

3 current or former All-Stars
2 current or former All-NBA players
3 current or former All-Defense players
1 DPOY
1 future Larry Bird Trophy winner
1 future Finals MVP

😁😁😁😁😁
I want no more talk of this team being compared to the 04 Pistons. This is more the mid-2000s Spurs - stacked!!

Yeah, that’s a bit disingenuous…

R.Wallace: 4x All-Star
Prince: 4x All-Defensive Second Team
Hamilton: 3x All-Star
Billups: 5x All-Star, 1x All NBA Second Team, 2x All NBA Third Team, 2x NBA All-Defensive Second Team.
B.Wallace: 4x All-Star, 3x All NBA 2nd Team, 2x All NBA 3rd Team, 4x DPOY, 5x All Defensive first team, 1x All-Defensive Second Team.

Pistons also had 1x future All-Star Okur, former 6MOY Big Nasty Corliss Williamson, and former COY Larry Brown.

But in addition to those guys, in 2004, when they won, they only had:

R. Wallace: 2x All-Star (3 seasons removed from last appearance)
Prince: 0x All-D
Hamilton: 0x All-Star
Billups: 0x All-Star,  0x All-NBA, 0x All-D
B. Wallace: 2x All-Star, 2x DPOY, 3x All-NBA, 3x All-D

That doesn't look as stacked through the lense of 2004.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Sure, but you could see the talent. Same with the C’s this year. I’ve heard several people say that the Pistons were overrated as they won just the one championship and didn’t have a superstar player. That was a really good team and they beat prime Kobe and Shaq in 5 games.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

So if there were only 100 voters, and each team only has two guard spots, how did Jrue Holiday get 24 first place votes and Matisse Thybulle eight? 99 for Marcus and 95 for Bridges would only leave six first place votes outstanding ...

Positional overlap?  Some voters may have voted Bridges or Thybulle as a forward.  I mean, who considers Bridges to be a primary guard?

This actually seems like one of those "let's vote both Jokic and Embiid to 1st Team All-NBA" things.

Is Bridges really a guard? Bam a forward? So who's the Center when Bam is out there (how many minutes did Bam and Dedmon play together this season?).

If they're true to positions, Jrue should get bumped up to 1st team, while JJJ moves down to 2nd team. Time Lord doesn't make a team at all, and VanFleet is in. Not hating, cuz it's nice to see Time Lord in, but the teams should probably look more like this:

G - Smart, 198 points
G - Holiday, 89 points
F - Bridges, 193 points
F - Giannis, 156 points
C - Gobert, 171 points

G - Thybulle, 87 points
G - VanFleet, 41 points
F - Jackson, Jr., 153 points
F - Green, 34 points
C - Bam, 152 points

Outside looking in: Time Lord, 70 points
