People saying he should have planned better, or just stay and play the game, well can't really say with out being kicked, but he was on the Spurs not  making the playoffs, plus some times things happen no matter how many "precautions" you take.

Sounds like they were going to educe between games 2 and 3, so they had a plan, but nature don't care about your plans.

Family takes first priority every single time. What if some thing happens during birth and the kid only lives  a few hours and you chose to play a game instead of being there with your wife and holding your kids hand in their last moments, or you wife, you never know.

Funny.  I casually brought this up to my wife, and she pretty much said what Who said.

This is a betrayal of the team; of every single member of this team's hard work all season long.

You DO NOT skip out on games at this time of the year.
You DO NOT skip out on your team when they are short-handed, on the road and down in the series.
You DO NOT cost your team a Championship.

If we lose this series because of this selfishness, I do not want to see White back next season. Kick him off the team.

Imagine losing the 1984 title because Cedric Maxwell wanted to be at the hospital.

Hey guess what, the baby is still going to be there after the game. Leave right after the game and be with your family. But DO NOT skip the game, betray your team and teammates and potentially cost your team a Championship.
Take a deep breath.

I see a bigger problem with anyone having a problem with this than I do White missing tonight’s game.

Good for him. An unforgettable moment in his life that he absolutely should be there for. Hayward got guilted into staying (but also there were quarantine issues that would have resulted in him missing several games, iirc), but I wouldn’t have faulted him for leaving.

Nonetheless, let’s go out there and win it for the newest addition to the Celtics family.

Serious question
Is your wife a person that strives for excellence, sacrificing herself for the family unit?

There are always unknown variables that can impact such decisions - tons of possible factors that only DW and his wife know.

I think I can safely say that regardless of DWs personal desire in this, if his wife expressed to him the importance to her of him being there, I honestly don’t see how he, or any man, says no.  Well… I suspect some men would say no, but that’s a decision never to be forgotten and possibly never forgiven in a marriage.

I think it's cool DW can join the club (of dads - Robert Williams is a dad, Al Horford is a dad, Tatum is a dad).

Before I think it was Baynes, Horford and Hayward who were the dads.

I was realizing I generally don’t know if our players are dads unless they make it to the media. Sadly I know rondo is now, but what about the rest of our championship team. I have no clue on pierce, Allen or Perkins. Would guess garnett does not. Do most people know this stuff? I realize I probably no less having a lot less regional coverage than if I lived around Boston.

Garnett and Pierce I know have daughters.

Ray Allen and Perk both have children too according to google.

I think Twitter, Reddit, YouTube and other new media have a bit more coverage. Think I found out about Pierce and KG's kids on YouTube, which I spent too much time on before.

Any Cs fan who followed the team to their championship in '08 should know that Ray Allen has kids, since it was a big deal that he almost missed game 6 of the finals - and his son almost died - stemming from his son's diabetes being misdiagnosed.
