- Without Smart and Horford, we did better than the Heat in 3 of 4 quarters.

- We only need to win one of potentially four games in Miami. Think of all the series we’ve seen where the higher seed wins game one at home, and still loses the series.

- Nesmith actually looked decent at times. Perhaps he can be an NBA role player like Batman and Pritchard?

- Smart should be ready come game two. Had he played, there’s no way the third quarter is quite like that.

Other silver linings?

The bad news: Horford may be unvaccinated (this is the third time he’s gone into protocols…) and unavailable for the series?

Just ridiculous seeing people run with completely unsubstantiated narratives

I saw the headline, but did Horford ever say he was vaccinated?

I said something similar in the game thread, but it's really unfortunate for us that the Western Conference/Mavs got the extra day off from game 7, while we just never got a chance to slow down. Not only did this affect the stamina of our guys, who surely could have used a day to chill, rather than rush off to Miami after a grueling series; but this led to Smart not playing and even Horford getting tested when he otherwise might not have (and if he did, that extra day could make all the difference in terms of games missed).

You would think the league would want fair, competitive series' at this point, but one of the Bucks/Celtics was always going to get screwed. Unfortunately that exacerbated itself with the Smart/Horford situation.

I could be wrong but a friend told me that this stuff is actually pre-determined already. Even in 2017, the Celtics won Game 7 against the Wizards on a Monday night, and then two days later (Wednesday) was the Draft lottery AND Game 1 of our series vs. Cleveland. Short turnaround then too

I'd love to see some flexibility built in.  Like, a minimum of two off-days before a team starts a new series.

I mean, whatever delays there are to the end date of the season are no greater than those caused by adding the play-in tournament.

I assume arena and network availability are the key drivers more than “trying to screw another team over”.

There’s a reason why Boston-Milwaukee had such a long break between game 2 and 3 and it wasn’t to try and buy some time for Middleton to recover haha

Sucked the way we lost, that hurt more than the actual loss. However I feel really good.

1-We always respond after getting punched in the mouth.

2-Ime is very good at getting more out his guys and I think you'll see that next game

3-JB will have a game that wins us one

4-I expect to see a mix of JT from GM5 and 6 last round for the remainder

5-Sucked that Al and Smart were out, but on the bright side they got some much needed rest(the rest the whole team should've had, thanks NBA). I fully expect AL to be back next game and I think Smart can grind it out.

6-Timelord is only going to play more as he gets his wind back

7-The Tony Brothers game is out of the way

Don't lose faith. We are the better team.

Was that a typo in the article?  It says:

"Friday, Horford denied that report saying he was vaccinated."

Was he denying the earlier report saying he was unvaccinated?

Or denying the later report that he WAS vaccinated?

Very confusing!

It's pretty irresponsible of the league to have so many consecutive games with only a single day's rest.

Completely ridiculous, and a detriment to the quality of the games. Thankfully most of our guys are young, but it really was not helpful considering what we just went through in the Milwaukee series.

We still got the Scott Foster and Marc Davis games.

And also, appalled that DAL gets 2 days rest while BOS only got one. Heck, they got even more extra rest from eviscerating the Suns in Gm 7.

It's TV.  ESPN & TNT rotate the conference finals.  ESPN is also the TV partner of the draft lottery so whatever conference that ESPN is broadcasting that particular year, that game will be on lottery day.  Since the playoffs are down to 4 teams, its in the league's interests to stagger the conference finals.  No need to have on the same day.

If this is 2023 and TNT is carrying the ECF, then Celtics are playing game 1 tonight instead.

Totally agree. Should at least be 2 days.

Kind of weird - Early this morning I posted the following under this topic (see below). I couldn't find it. Then located it under a different topic. Thus, I'm reposting. Ever happen to anyone else on this site?

What I liked most about the 4th quarter is Miami couldn't stop fouling the Celtics every time Boston got aggressive on offense.

In the next outing if the C's start out making quicker passes and drive with determination it could lead to early foul trouble for Miami.

It's really ridiculous the lack of at least 2 days off after the series. Also, compare that to having 3-4 days off between games in the first series which is equally stupid. I understand it's all driven by the tv networks but all the nba has to do is add a 2nd day off here and push the Warriors series back a game. It's not that big of a deal and they'd be putting a better product on the court.
