- Without Smart and Horford, we did better than the Heat in 3 of 4 quarters.

- We only need to win one of potentially four games in Miami. Think of all the series we’ve seen where the higher seed wins game one at home, and still loses the series.

- Nesmith actually looked decent at times. Perhaps he can be an NBA role player like Batman and Pritchard?

- Smart should be ready come game two. Had he played, there’s no way the third quarter is quite like that.

Other silver linings?

The bad news: Horford may be unvaccinated (this is the third time he’s gone into protocols…) and unavailable for the series?

AL HAS DECLARED VACCINATED

https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2022/04/09/al-horford-vaccination-status-celtics-playoffs-would-he-play-in-toronto-raptors/

Fact 1: Horford is in protocols for the THIRD time.

Fact 2: Horford has never stated he is vaccinated.

Everything else is speculation.

Then freakin' stop saying stuff you don't know. Being in protocols for the third time says LITERALLY nothing about being vaccinated or not.

You really need to drop this utter nonsense

I speculated that he MAY be unvaccinated. I did not say he is unvaccinated.

If he is unvaccinated, there is the possibility he will miss the series. That’s the only bad news after game one. But silver lining: unlike the last series, we do not need Al to win this series.
Forgive me for not giving a hoot about your speculation in light of genuine reporters with legitimate ties to the team saying otherwise.

This should be our team’s takeaway. We can beat them, but not with a third quarter like that. We’d have been further ahead if we just ran out 24 seconds every possession in the third. That’s how bad we were. The worst playoff quarter I’ve ever seen from a Tatum-led team. It won’t happen again.

That’s fine. Even if my speculation pans out (I desperately want to be wrong) and we lose Horford for the series, or most of it, I still think we win this series. We just need to win one game in Miami and we can totally do that with everyone except Horford.

Man you still don't get it.

Vaccination status has absolutely NOTHING to do with this whatsoever.

Being vaccinated doesn't mean you can't freak'n get the disease.

It's 2 and a half years into this pandemic and you still don't get it.

Just, freakn, STOP.

We outplayed Miami for 75% of the game.

It’s impossible to play worse than we did in the third.

TP Roy. Everything went right for the Heat and it was still somewhat close. Gotta see it for what it is and be sharper next game.

These are all good thoughts but reminiscent of post by fans of the Nets and bucks.

We go downtown 2-0 n and odds are we are cooked.

We get to gm 7 and I gurantee butler magically get 20+ ft.

It’s the third time. Of course being vaccinated does not mean one cannot get the virus, but ceteris paribus one’s odds of a repeat infection are much higher if they are unvaccinated.

It’s telling that nobody else on the team is in protocols, no? Possible that will change (I hope not more than anything, which is why I am hoping Horford is unvaccinated and an outlier in terms of our players going into protocol…what seems more likely: Horford is vaccinated and is the only player who goes into protocol, or Horford is unvaccinated and is the only player who goes into protocol?)

Don’t lie, for a little bit there you thought this was going to be an easier series lol

it should be easy. We got lazy and tires, plus brothers mistook butler for LeBron and
Gifted ft.

I prior to the game exhaled thinking Miami doesn't have a start that will be serviced by the refs..boy was I wrong.

The last time the Celtics lost Game 1 of a playoff series they end up winning the series so there's that

Neither Tatum, nor Brown had good games. Smart and Horford were out. 4 starters either not playing or playing below their average playoff game.
Tatum had a spectacular first half. Maybe his best of the year. But true, his putrid 3rd quarter certainly qualifies it as a bad game.
