Win or lose, I want us to run this team back next year including Al at $$$ and two additions: Nesmith/picks for Dort, and use the MLE on a 5/4 since Timelord is hurt a lot and Al is closer to 40 than 30.

The only exception to bringing everyone (sans Nesmith) back: If we lose and Kawhi is available for Brown/Theis/picks, that’s a no-brainer, particularly if we can use the MLE on a 5/4 and still bring in Dort for picks. Only if we lose, though. I think Smart/JB practically make us a 2020s-era Big 3 if we win the title.

The above moves ensure we get by anybody next year, including a Giannis/Middleton/Holiday Bucks. Even if we win the title, we need 1-2 guys added to the bench strength to ensure we can get by a healthy Bucks squad next year. Unless Nesmith pulls a Batman,  think moving him/picks for Dort and a MLE is the way to go.

I think I see what White and Theis can fetch.  Especially if you can bring in a Robin Lopez. If it's not an upgrade, it didn't hurt to look. But I'm not trading anyone else.

Also, yesterday I jokingly said we would sweep the Heat. I fully expect us to be down 2-0 going into game 3. As long as we win our home games and go all-out in game seven, I think we can do this. If we steal one in Miami before game 7, we should be able to win in six.

Two very good things that I can think of immediately off the top of my head:

1) The "Tatum and Brown can't play together" narrative is now dead.  And I mean dead.  Nobody is making that stupid claim anymore.  All of the "expert" analysts who spouted this nonsense have been shut up by the Jays.  Maybe they forgot that your best chances of winning championships is by have star wing players.  We have two of them.

2) Our core and important role players will be here for years to come.  Tatum, Brown, Smart, White, and Timelord are all under contract for multiple years.  All have positive value and can be flipped for quality assets/players if needed.  I hope Horford can continue to drink from the fountain of youth and be that glue player we need, and re-sign on the cheap.  And most important both Tatum and Brown are still getting better.  Tatum has improved his passing immensely this season and handles pressure and different defensive schemes remarkably well for a player his age.

As much as I want to win a title this year, we appear to have a pretty wide championship window if we don't.  I won't overreact if we lose game 1.  I didn't when we lost against the Bucks in game 1.  Just try to take things game by game.

Without going into the specifics you mentioned, I agree.  I want the entire rotation back, plus supplemental pieces.  I'd love to use the TPE (perhaps split between two players) and the MLE.

There's no need for drastic changes.  The team is (mostly) young and on the cusp.

I think if we get to the finals he is guaranteed $19.5 and if we win a title this year the contract is fully guaranteed. And I have no problem with this.

I mean the expectations continue to go up and it will be a giant disappointment if they don’t beat the heat at this point.
Blow up the team if they lose? No. But they should be in the finals this year in my opinion.

Bro, weren’t you the same guy who was absolutely positive KD was going to manhandle us and we’d lose the Brooklyn series? 😉😂

Yup. Think he said Nets in 6 and called us all crazy for dismissing a team that had Durant and Kyrie. But now apparently its a disappointment if the team isn't in the Finals. Pretty funny stuff 🤣🤣🤣🤣

There is no one way to be a fan. Some are optimistic,  some are pessimistic,  and some are realistic. I respect them all. If I don't like your view, I just ignore.

But we should always be respectful to each other. My only exception is trolls. Just report them!

amen chief. it is a message board. so we have fun and of course are over the top and boisterous and act crazy. most of what we post is in jest anyway. LOLOLOL  it is what we enjoy about this site being with friends and lifelong celtics fans. we are all FANATICS aka fans. This board is basically a relief valve from real life issues and everyday stresses. we come here to unwind or let loose with our brethren celtics.

the ebb and flow of games in the heat of the moment will be wild. one second we  loathe the silly decision making skills and the next we love it aka players and coaches. LOL.  that is just how it is. that's ball.
most here get it and understand.

at any rate

BEAT THE HEAT!

LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I like hearing/critiquing proposals for improving in the offseason.

If we get knocked out: I would be interested listening to deals moving anyone (even Tatum).

I won't click or read any criticism of Udoka - that is patently stupid. Coaches should be given at least 4 years (yes, even Detroit coaches). There is very little else that can be squeezed out of this roster anyway.

People gotta have an outlet for their anger and disappointment though. We all feel that crushing heartbreak when we lose. I broke a nice clock at the end of Game 5.

One of this forum’s favorite things to do is to absurdly overreact to pretty much any negative outcome. Can we all collectively agree not to do this if we lose to the Heat?

Jayson Tatum was one of the best players in the entire NBA this year, Jaylen Brown had a great second half of the season, Marcus Smart was the DPOY and Ime Udoka had a massively successful first year as a coach. The team finished as the best defensive team in the NBA this year, while showcasing a strong offense as well. We swept the Nets and beat the defending champion Bucks. If we lose to the Heat, it does not mean we should blow it up, or that the Jays can’t play with each other or this team can’t win a title. It would just mean we lost a series.

So please, I’m begging the naysayers, just chill if the Celtics don’t win a title this year.

Totally agree with you. I kind of have that mentality myself. But given how some people panic and start slitting wrists and advocating blowing the team up when we are down by 5 in the first quarter of games because we missed a few shots, I don't like your chances

Such is the essence of fandom, that's why we are called fanatics. It's not always logical and rational  I'm looking forward to reading the most extreme takes and debating them  :police:
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Yes of course - free speech and reading/responding to some over the top takes is part of the fun of participating in this forum.  But freedom of opinion applies to the OP too. It’s ok to express the opinion that there’s too much knee-jerk negativity.  It’s just an opinion.

Beating KD and Kyrie and then Giannis and the defending champs are 2 of the harder series to win in my mind hence why my post says expectations have gone up?
Came on after the nets series and said the Celtics proved me wrong and are who they became after christmas, no fluke.
This bucks series also proved they are more mentally tough then they have ever been and should absolutely be poised to make the finals. Not sure what’s funny

Lucky you. I ever broke anything even small as a clock I’d be asked by family if I needed extensive therapy. I’m not kidding. Watching the Celtics has become less fun through the years. I don’t mean it’s my natural thing to do but watching games at home is the WORST.
