I am aware he has his limitations, particularly on shooting range and defense, but given how thin we have been with bigs between Robert williams being out and foul trouble, was there a role for him in this series? I feel like Brooke and Portis would not have been completely awful matchups for him, especially Lopez who is slow as molasses and can't really take advantage of Kanter's last of think. Curious what people think.

I lean towards no to be honest. I mean yeah, I think Freedom would have certainly helped with the scoring inside, but it'd also get negated by his defense on the other end.

I don't think he'd be that much better than Theis

No. He has no place with our defensive coverages. We would have to play drop coverage with him. Holiday would pick on him in pick and roll all night. And he might have actually gotten Grayson Allen back into form shooting the ball.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Thanks, was just curious what people thought. Tp's around for the response. I just have wished we had one more big body at times this series, and we have been a bit fortunate they haven't hit Al with cheap fouls to foul him out. His defense was outstanding yesterday.

Definitely not. Theis is better than Enes and he barely even sees the court.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

For what, cooling people off in the first row behind the Celtics bench with the towel he’d be waving?

No -- Kanter can't defend the perimeter, can't defend the PnR, can't defend on switches to Giannis, cannot close out well on three point shooters.

He would kill our team defense against this team.

Actually Kornet did a good job against Lopez--just his size gave him trouble.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

That’s my thought.  If Ime won’t trust Theis, he wouldn’t trust Freedom.

Also I know this is probably a little bit of a controversial opinion probably, but with how outspoken he's been lately on Twitter and even postgame pressers, I can't help but feel he'd just be a distraction to the team during this run. He called out the C's and some of their members after getting traded on world stuff, and there was also an incident earlier in the season where he publicly expressed frustration about his playing time. I'm still convinced Ime and the team only gave him minutes after that even though they'll obviously deny it.
