Game 5 =12-29, 2-11(3pa) blows the final play with AL.
Tatum's scoring efficiency was better than these numbers make it appear at first sight due to (1) strong FT shooting where he hit 8-9 FTs (2) low turnovers. Only one turnover against 29 shot attempts and 9 FTs which is extremely low.
So 29 field goal attempts + 9 FTs equals 4 possessions + 1 turnover = so a total of 34 possessions for 34 points. A point per possession which is a strong number when you include turnovers into the mix.
That number would be above league average for the season albeit below the average of the rest of the team tonight.
Its actually not really that good, even factoring in the turnovers. The league average this year was actually 1.1 points per possession. That said it wasn't horrible either.
For the series tho he's been a bit down, he's shooting like 38/29/76 on a 50.1% True Shooting. Thats not great, although he has been high volume.
It all just depends on what you expect of him. A top 5 guy has higher expectations.
That said, it literally doesn't matter how many points he scores the next game. If he scores 40 on 35 shots we'll just as easily lose as win. What matters is he scores efficiently, defends his ass off, and gets everybody else easy looks with the lats bit the most important, that's what a superstar does.
