When the reigning the DPOY is on the team.  And yeah, I know some could get offended that this question is even being posed because Marcus is so great.  But man:

-Marcus is the heart and soul and a complete dog.  All over the court
-Al the old pro that can stick with guards, protect the rim, and be the qb of the defense
-Rob can do things on defense that no one else can and offensive players always hearing footsteps
-Grant MIGHT be the most versatile guy over all.  In this series, he's been on Jrue Holiday and Giannis...on prupose.  Can guard 1-5 more legitimately than anyone on the team
-The Jay are at a completely premium as versatile wing defenders

Is there any wonder this team's defense is so strong?  Sometimes a team can put together a good defense with scheme and either a single great defender or just not having holes.  This team has a bunch of really really good defenders, on top of cohesion.

If we're going to win this series, it's going to be because of the defense and making just enough shots.

Yeah, it's really good roster construction in this regard. Preseason was rife with people (myself included) wondering just how good this defence could be with the personnel on the roster. It's a real luxury
