So I just had a long conversation with a friend of mine about this in regards to sports gambling. I’m from the dc area and we both are avid gamblers, I’m a Celtics fan and he’s not. He asked me his advice for the game tonight bc he wanted to bet on the Celtics.
I advised him not too. I told him, the nets are too good of a team to get swept in this series and if they are going to win at least one game. THIS is going to be the game.
So as a Celtics fan, this is my philosophy when it comes to wagering on emotionally charged games. In tonight’s game I bet a comfortable amount of money on the Nets to win tonight.
The way I look at it, it’s a hedge. I’m paying for a Celtics win tonight, semi-satisfaction guaranteed. If the Celtics win tonight, I get what I paid for, I’m a happy man. If the Celtics lose, I’m mad but what I figured would happened gives me a financial bonus regardless so that softens the blow.
Does anyone else subscribe to this philosophy?? Again, usually I hate betting on games where I have a rooting interests but In situations like this, it makes sense
