I'd rather have Simmons out there than Dragic or Mills, from a Celtic perspective.
defensively? on the boards? playmaking?
Yes, because I do not think his defence or rebounding will be nearly at 100% due to how underdone he'll be.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

He'll have a problem playing next to no-offense bigs like Drummond and Claxton too. He'll need Aldridge or B.Griffin next to him to function in the halfcourt against this defense.

Big changes to their rotation mid-series.

If you were Nash how would you try to save their series?

The only thing I can really think of is just playing zone all game, and hoping Ben Simmons breathes some life into these Nets...

I'd be very tempted to try throwing out some small lineups.

Brown-Durant-Kyrie-Curry-Dragic/Mills

Defence won't work at all, but it might open things up for the stars. I don't think Nash is adventurous though

Still feel like this is just Rich Paul pushing all this for whatever reason. Surely they wouldn't put that much pressure on him to come back if they're down 3-0, or even rush him back for game 3. For a member of the Nets from the beginning of the season - sure, maybe. For a traded player with mental/confidence issues who's coming off an injury and from an entirely different team - no way.

I would almost feel bad for Ben in that situation, as that's just asking for failure and an adverse event.

It's amazing how much of a difference having Joe Harris would make. He's not even a defender but at least he has legit wing size. Those guards are just too darn small.

They just have no forwards left with J.Harris and B.Simmons both out injured.

There is not much BKN can do to change things up. Their roster is too limited.

Yeah I mean. I think we all will take our chances with a guy that hasn’t been able to even run for months. Every nba player says there is no substitute for game speed, and that is coming from players that were able to practice In full and run. I don’t really get why people are acting like Ben is some kind of cyborg.

Yep, he's 6'6 and shoots mid-40s from three. That is a huge, huge loss.

Doesn't need to be to be an improvement on what they have.  10 minutes a game, even at 80% is a significant improvement during those 10 minutes, which should help the other 38 minutes.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Sure, but it is a complete loss of shooting, and will just create a crowded interior. I don't think that's a recipe for success for Brooklyn

These games have been intense and fast-paced all throughout. Are we sure Simmons can just come in and act like nothing happened and he'll be in top form?? I still have my doubts. I mean literally, the recent reporting is that he's been doing 4 on 4 drills... not even 5 on 5 yet

I agree Gouki. Is he gonna be on the floor with Claxton or Drummond? Have people forgotten how awful simmons and Howard were together. Very odd thinking on ben simmons by some.

Just to play devil's advocate. All they really need is for Kyrie or KD to nail shots with 5 guys draped over them.

(Though KD can apparently be slowed down lol).

Here's Steve Nash's response to Woj's report that the Nets are targeting a Game 4 return for Simmons: "That's news to me." You can click on the tweet below to go to the video.

Quote
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday that the Nets are targeting Game 4 of their first-round series against the Boston Celtics, which Nash says is "news to me."

"I don't think we're targeting any game. I think we're trying to see how he develops, how he progresses," Nash told reporters. "That's something that, with the recent history since the trade, has not been straightforward. So while it's exciting to see him on the floor and see him make progress, I don't think any of us are saying it's imminent."

Guess Rich Paul forgot to tell Steve that Simmons was playing in Game 4  :police:

If I was Simmons ,  he better wear ear plugs I expect he’ll be catching a lot of unfavorable noise from the Garden too.
