Apparently since 2020, the C's are 15-1 in games where Eric Lewis is a ref. They're 4-1 with Capers this postseason too.

Saw this stat and was, hmm, interesting.  Warriors are now 2-9 in their last 11 finals games without Durant.

Lost last 3 against the Cavs in 2016, 1-4 against the Raptors in 2019 (Durant played part of 1 game, which the Warriors won), and now 1-2 against the Celtics this year.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Vince Carter and Patrick Beverly both emphatically saying that Jaylen Brown is the Finals MVP so far.

agree

JB has been a BEAST. he keeps getting first quarter starts like that we are in good hands

just have to fix 3rd Q issues

I was thinking the same thing when I woke up today.  If he keeps doing this, he could be

I’ve got Jaylen in the lead for FMVP at the moment, but I could easily foresee JT dropping 40 in a win and taking the lead.

I’m hoping JB does enough to separate himself to clearly deserve the FMVP over the next few games. I’d hate for Tatum’s name to get him the nod if JB is equally or more deserving of the award. That’s how tension starts creeping in and you get guys like JB wanting to leave to get more recognition in a different setting.

How cool would it be to have Smart as DPOY, Tatum as ECFMVP and 1st Team All NBA, and Brown as FMVP?! Talk about a big 3!

Through 4 Finals games, Brown and Tatum have both scored 89 points. Brown has been more efficient in his scoring (.513 eFG% vs. .427) but Tatum doubling up Brown on assists (7.8 to 3.8) is telling about how much more Tatum is doing out there.

This to me is just mind-boggling. But maybe you can also say it's somewhat a miracle we're tied 2-2 this series with the way Tatum has shot? Curry has obviously shown up this series

Jayson Tatum is shooting 34.1% this Finals.

That’s the lowest by any player with 20+ attempts per game in a Finals series ever.

So I found this interesting, but apparently the order of the LEAD referees in this Finals so far has been the exact same as the Bucks-Suns series last year. Davis-Zarba-Foster-Capers, and then repeat. Unfortunately that probably means Zarba Game 6, but in a Game 7 it's likely Foster.

Well if it makes anyone feel a little better my parents seem to think the NBA is rigging this to make it a 7 game series. My dad thinks that’s why Game 2 was reffed the way it was and also why for stretches today the Warriors were getting key calls leading to FTs or Celtics turnovers. He thinks Boston can still definitely win this in 7

They also believe the refs have done the same in the Bucks and Heat series to ensure they went 7 games especially with some of the other playoff series only going 4-5 each round.

To be fair they aren’t completely claiming the refs are why Boston has lost 3 games this series and that the Celtics have also sucked for large stretches the last two games. But the NBA definitely wanted a long series and it feels like they’ll get another one here. If Scott “the extender” Foster goes Game 6 and not Zarba I think that should paint the picture clearly

The C’s had a chance to overcome things but they literally are throwing away their chance at Banner 18 with all the turnovers and missed FTs too

Baseball fans might remember this.

But I was thinking, this Finals series sort of feels like the 2021 ALCS last season for the Red Sox in the MLB. Boston goes up 2-1 in the series with momentum after a big Game 3 win, has a lead late in Game 4 and then blows it, then basically gets blown out (or thoroughly outplayed) late in Game 4 AND in Game 5 and then loses in 6 games.

Hopefully that doesn't happen to the C's but the parallels are kind of there.
