It is rare that a first round sweep qualifies as a ratings hit, but Celtics-Nets ranks as easily the strongest draw thus far of a resurgent NBA Playoffs. Saturday’s Celtics-Nets first round NBA playoff Game 3 averaged a 2.5 rating and 4.62 million viewers on ESPN, peaking at 5.88 million — marking the network’s most-watched first round playoff game in 12 years (2010 Lakers-Thunder Game 6: 4.83M). Monday’s clinching Game 4 averaged 3.83 million on TNT, the least-watched game of the series but still the eighth-largest audience of this year’s postseason. – via Sports Media Watch
ratings just blow in general for anything not the NFL.  I mean some random Thursday night game on the NFL Network draws more than the NBA playoffs on ESPN and TNT.
There is also a generational thing to discuss in terms of the average NFL fan and the average NBA fan. ALOT of people stream NBA games online through questionable means. NFL gets a lot of people who pay for their cable. Just as an example, I was in college a few years ago (in a non sport dominant market.) I probably knew 100 people that were watching the NBA playoffs intently, and MAYBE 5 of them weren't using reddit (no longer a viable strategy.)

I am not trying to claim the NBA is remotely close to the NFL, but I believe the numbers have to be skewed by that.

It is a major problem networks have to address. I know the final season of GoT had some crazy number (close to 20 million) legal streamers. Apparently the illegal piracy was WAY more than that.

Might sound like a dumb thing to say, but Tatum fouling out might have been a slight blessing in disguise especially since they won. That's because he'd been playing super heavy minutes lately and was able to play just 36 in Game 4. Keeps those legs a bit fresher going forward

Timelord coming back for good will also help the frontcourt (Theis, Horford) immensely in terms of both impact and minutes.

It's amazing what a ratings juggernaut the NBA used to be. One of the Bulls finals games in the 90s had over 70 million viewers. They'd kill to get a third of that in a finals game this year.

Did you guys see this??

I'm going to assume this is just a play variation, and has been practiced before, but it's still glorious.

This is the greatest thing I’ve seen in a while. Hopefully the Nets players see it.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

They did an edit/spoof. Think in the show they were going on a team building field trip or something. Guess it’s time for me to re-watch the show, haha.

I only remember it was either season 2 or 3 when Michael was being an idiot and sold his condo, thinking he gets promoted to New York, and they go to the beach to play stupid games to pick his replacement.

I think they did a cover of the Flintstones theme, but it wasn't on this bus? Must be a later season then...?

I was wrong. It’s from season 9, E4 (“The Work Bus”). Man, that show was so good..

The Flanderization and the lack of direction in the later seasons though, makes it so rough to sit through.

I'm not necessarily a connesiour of film and media and whatnot. But I do love my 2000's 2010's sitcoms. By comparison Always Sunny holds up super well, maybe because they already took it to such a stupid level of absurdity by season 3, and the latest episode was some stroke of genius. Curb Your Enthusiasm also held up well, as well as Arrested Development (save the final season, but that's just different). Of course Community. Guess what these have in common is that they're all kind of absurd/surreal - though credit to The Office, I'm sure a these creators drew a lot of inspiration from basically what Steve Carrell did (I may be wrong).
