Anyone else find it funny that analysts are talking about how others built a wall to contain Giannis and how the Celtics need to replicate? Didn’t we create that in 2019? Like... this exact team ?
Pretty sure Horford is one of the original Giannis-troublers (I hesitate to use the term stopper). We don't have Semi anymore to throw a brick wall at him, but we have a lot of defensive weapons + we don't have to gameplan for Khris "MJ" Middleton

Zach Lowe today:
Quote
Horford was once one of the league's closest things to an Antetokounmpo stopper, but Antetokounmpo solved Horford's one-on-one defense when Milwaukee obliterated Boston in this same round in 2019. Horford has a better shot defending Antetokounmpo in traditional pick-and-rolls.

Time to throw some bodies at Giannis and hit him hard

One thing C's player haven't experienced (other than The Finals), is being a, or perhaps the, Eastern Conference favorite. With this series v. the defending champs and then perhaps next series v. the 2020 finalist, they are playing good, experienced teams.   I hate to say this, but I am looking forward to seeing how the C's will respond to a loss (also looking forward to seeing how this blog will respond to a loss).

If the loss comes in games 1 or 2 shifting HCA to Milwaukee it will be a good test for this team's character.  They certainly handled everything surrounding the Nets series well, and I love how they seem focused on the next opponent definitely not spending much time savoring the win -- good sign.  They need to up their game, up their focus/determination each series ahead if they are able stay alive.

See, part of the reason why I'm not that focused on Giannis is because lets be honest, he'll get his numbers anyways. What makes Milwaukee tough though is when a guy like Middleton is also torching us, then it's tough to beat them when Giannis + Middleton are doing great.

The question is, can Holiday step up? Can Grayson Allen keep shooting like he has? Also, who exactly is guarding Tatum/Brown, since that's another thing to consider with Middleton out and I doubt Giannis is guarding any of them. Holiday gets one guy, who gets the other?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I know... I said I'm looking forward to it, but really dreading the over-reactions we'll see.  Also not thrilled about seeing the over-reactions the other way if the C's should win comfortably tomorrow.

Well, I don't want them to lose any home games. I want Milwaukee to regret giving us HCA and tanking to pick on the Bulls.

Besides, the C's nearly lost the first two games at home. Took a buzzer-beating layup and rallying from 17-points down to beat the Nets. So those were a bit wrist-slitting vibes. The two road games were actually a bit more relaxed but couldn't push down the gas pedal hard enough. The Bucks are no pushovers, so they gotta maintain big leads.

There will be plenty of wrist slitting when the first loss comes I'm sure  :police:

But not one of them picked the C’s in 5, which is what’s actually going to happen.
