I'm feeling good about Smart.  I do think he deserves it.  But I also think all of the noise made that guards never seem to be considered (which is absolutely true) could only help his case.  So happy for him - only a few months ago people were talking about trading him.  Now, the number of untouchables on the team is most likely 4.

If Smart wins DPOY, he’d have been eligible for a supermax in his new deal had he not already signed his extension in August.  Not saying he would have gotten the supermax, but it would have definitely raised his price this summer.

I think Smart deserves it and it's starting to feel possible.

He's a lock for all defense 1st team, at least. It'd be great for him to win the big award, though.
