The way we've been playing he has to be in the discussion!

Ime has been good in the second half of the season, but my vote would go to the Memphis coach, if I had one.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:
Quote
At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I go with the Suns coach, Monty Williams but Ime is in the conversation at this point.

When is this award given? I mean if he takes the Cs to the Eastern Finals then I think he deserves the award. Unless of course it only includes the regular season.

My understanding was that it was a regular season award, same as the player awards.

Thanks. Ime should still be in the conversation I think. Now if we sweep these last 10 games and somehow make it on top of the East, then maybe he should seriously be considered.

I’m curious, why Monty Williams?  He’s basically doing the same thing he did last year, with a little more polish.

I think Jenkins deserves it, but I might put Ime in second.  He got the team to buy in and play extremely good basketball after breaking bad habits.  That’s what coaching is all about.

He's keeping the Suns team intact despite the absence of Chris Paul.

I know you’re not replying to me, but Monty Williams deserved it last year, people wrote the Suns off as a fluke, and the Suns have doubled down this year.  When a team has surprising success, sustaining it can be just as hard as achieving it in the first place (see: Atlanta and New York).  They lost Chris Paul at the All-Star break and have gone 10-4 without him.  The West has the three best records in the league, and the Suns can still clinch home court for the playoffs in their next game.  They’ve been on another level all season long.

I’d put Ime and Jenkins in 2nd and 3rd, in either order.

I might give Brad some executive of the year consideration, including for hiring Udoka.  He clearly had a vision for what this team needed, and even if it took a little bit for that vision to show itself, he knew what he was doing.  Also, a big chef’s kiss for that Time Lord extension.

Fair enough.  I think the time to give him the award was last season.  Keeping his team playing well for 15 or so games without CP3 is impressive, but not as impressive to me as Jenkins or Ime.  I'd put Bickerstaff above Williams, as well, judging on this year alone.

I think he is 3rd.  Bickerstaff 1, Jenkins 2, and then Udoka.  I'd have Finch 4 and Williams 5 with honorable mentions to Donovan and Spoelstra.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I think Williams is going to win, in part because ppl think he was a overlooked last year. So if he’s got a pretty good case this year that’s a big plus factor.

Where Ime lands depends a little on how the Cs finish. If we keep rolling and come in 2d, the narrative that he unlocked the talent of his team is pretty strong. I’d see him getting votes but not winning.

Sometimes you got to reward the team that is almost 10 games better (9) then any other team without a 1st (and possible 2nd) team all-nba players.

And of course the full season momentum of the media required to win such awards.
