By the way, Nick, if you want optimism, read this!

https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/33348162/how-boston-celtics-vaulted-back-championship-contention-nba-best-defense

Also, if someone smarter than me could post a pic of Goldberry's chart, that'd be great.

Here you go. If anyone wants to look at the original image they can click on it.

Great to see National media picking up on this and reporting positively on the Cs. I’ve touched on most of the points Goldsberry highlighted throughout the season as far back as the preseason.

That stat about Rob Williams III holding opponents to 37.8% being the best mark and the second best mark in 5 years exemplifies how great he’s been. There’s no stat that measures how many drives he deters by his mere presence (which he does often); he’s a beast and will start to get into the DPOY conversation.

I touted the roster construction and it having no mismatches, the overall elite defensive identity, and Horford’s durability and veteran leadership. It’s great to see everything coming together now. All this team needs now is for Tatum to make the leap (the consistency to perform at an elite level night in, night out) and Udoka accelerating his coaching maturation for this team to be contending for a Championship. It could happen as soon as this season!

LOL at you taking credit for Goldsberry's report

Mentioning that I have already touched on most of the points in Goldsberry’s article is taking credit for his article? 😂… Troll elsewhere.

For all of those naysayers claiming our most recent run has mainly been due to poor competition, how many good teams do we have to beat - shorthanded at that - before you start believing?

Tatum and the best defense in the NBA is a deadly combo.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

For me, there's no disputing that the majority of Boston's competition of late has been subpar (bad teams, or normally good teams missing key guys), but wins against the Nuggets, Sixers, and now the Grizzlies—minus Jaylen—are significant and help me feel more confident about Boston's prospects the rest of this season.

Of those 3, the Grizzlies win is most significant because they had no major injuries.  Sixers missing Harden and Nuggets missing Murray.

Nuggets haven't had Murray all season though, so I have a hard time as counting him as out.

Why does everyone need to add a caveat when discussing this team's recent play? I don't care how bad your NBA opponents are, if you are going to go 20-6 and play 12 of those games on the road or go 13-2 while playing 8 road games, your playing excellent ball. Why? Because in today's NBA, it's still very difficult to win on the road regardless of the quality of the opponent and because it's still very difficult to stay healthy, play consistently and keep focus over that period of time, especially for young teams like the Celtics.

Only the best of teams do that. And if you look at the record and combine it with some historically great numbers through most of that period, and caveats is meaningless, because the team is playing just that dam(n) good.
