I think it is fair to acknowledge that by giving up Richardson, we did give up a very good bench wing. Richardson is a true natural wing. White may be a better overall player (I don't know but am happy to assume that for now) but he is more of a combo guard. He is a bit undersized to be a true natural wing. He can't give us some of the things Richardson could. But maybe that is fine. Nesmith is a natural wing and will likely play more. GWill is not a natural wing but may get some time there.
Going forward, I do not expect our back up wing position (manned collectively by White, Nesmith, and GWill) to be as good as it would be if we still had Richardson. We traded some of our wing depth to get a little better/deeper at combo guard and at PF/C. We'll see how it works out.
I feel like we are better positioned for the future with White but we may not be any better this season as a result of these trades. Theis has always been sneaky good, doing things that don't show up in the box score and helping others play better, but he isn't going to move the needle all that much. But he is a help, an upgrade. I feel White can more than make up for the loss of Schroder and even Pritchard can help with that. But I do think we are going to feel the loss of Richardson.
