If you could only have three of the following players, who would you take? Meaning, which one would you drop?

Robert Williams
Grant Williams
Payton Pritchard
Derrick White

Sorry, I don't understand the reasoning behind this type of question.  If I was running the show, I would keep all four.  They each provide a different value to the team.

Depends on what I'm getting back in return.

Maybe to answer the question that I think you're actually asking: each of those players provides things that the team needs; so if I'm losing/trading one of them I need to somehow replace those things.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Pritchard is the obvious answer.  He's unplayable when he's in a shooting slump, as we saw the first four months of the season.

Pretty much.

I would like to think that Payton may have turned the corner similar to the change that Grant made.  If that is the case, Payton is very valuable to this team.  I understand that is a big get but why not, Grant was considered worthless at times last year.

Ime, like Brad before him, is looking at a bigger picture. In the case of Grant, he was always a rotation player with Brad; and in fact he's been in the rotation since he started in the league. The average fan is focused on a narrow view of what a player is actually doing.

Obviously you'd drop Horford. What's your answer the original question? Wait, I thought you weren't responding to this thread anymore?

I don't think that it's very surprising that once Payton got consistent minutes, his shooting%s perked right up.

Nothing in return -- you just have to cut one.

I think that one of the big pitfalls for fans is to assume that there's a one-dimensional scale that all players fit on. The reality is more interesting.

Pritchard. I responded because this isn't really a trade question.

You'd still have to add a rotation-quality player to replace what you're losing. That's why I said that. Each of those players adds different things. Incidentally Daniel Theis might have been a better one on this list than Robert Williams, since he's a starter.

I suppose I should admire your persistence in your anti-Derrick White campaign; and I must say I'm not bothered by it. It's one of those discussions that makes you take a closer look at what you actually know vs. your impressions and assumptions.
