A major trade would include any of the major rotation players. Or, trading for a starting caliber player.

By minor trade I mean anyone who is not in the regular rotation. For sake of argument players like Nesmith, Langford and Prichard would be minor deals. However, if they are included together or with a number one pick, then it would be considered a major trade.

I envision something minor but my definition may be a little off.  For example, a Schroder trade would be minor in my book.  even Horford would be something less than major (although not likely Horford is traded).

Horford would be major as all that salary would be bringing in someone of significance.

I do agree moving Schröder would be minor. It would entail getting under the cap and bringing in a minor pick or a very low end rotational piece or worse.

I'm convinced the J Rich talk for a young wing and pick is shopping for assets for another team (Wizards?) as part of a larger deal. I think the intension is a big move for a third star...whether he gets anything done is another thing.

I think we make a minor trade by giving up minor pieces and minor assets for a lower tier rotation player.

I think we wait until the summer to potentially move picks or rotation players unless we can move a rotation player and minor assets for a fringe starter.

Yeah, Horford would very likely be major, unless the C's were only trying to get out of his contract next year, and took back an expiring who wasn't likely to do much on court (for example, Dragic from Toronto).

Probably a move like getting Bol Bol and PJ Dozier and nothing exciting like getting Bradley Beal or even Evan Fournier

Heck no

Anyway, open up cap space not a thing.  Getting under the tax is maybe what you mean.

I think the trade deadline is going to (continue to) be a big yawn for Celtics fans. I think there will be a trade, maybe two, but primarily (maybe only) for the purpose of getting under the tax line. I expect nothing that will help the team's on-court play this season.

IT was  ;D

He was a borderline starter with the Suns. I don't remember anyone thinking he'd go a historic run with the Celtics.
