Could we have offered a better package for Sabonis that wouldn't have included Brown? My initial thoughts are no.

Do we have a Tyrese Haliburton type of player still cost controlled on a rookie deal?

Nahhh.

Wonder if Indy is going to try to flip Hield in a deal by himself?

I feel like you want wing shooters and mobile shooting bigs around Fox. Not a throw back center who is skilled and can pass, but isnt the best on defense. Sabonis would fit better with Haliburton in my opinion. Seems like a strange pairing.

Kings gonna Kings...

Why is this a bad deal for the Kings?  I would have loved Sabonis here.

4 team deal.  works in trade machine.

Boston in - Harrison Barnes and Dante DiVincenzo, future unprotected 1st from lakers
Lakers in - Josh Richardson
Milwaukee in - Dennis Schroeder, 2nd from Sacramento
Sacramento In - Taylor Horton Tucker, Romeo Langford

Boston out - Dennis Schroeder, Romeo Langford, Josh Richardson
Lakers out - Taylor Horton Tucker, future 1st
Milwaukee out - Dante DiVincenzo
Sacramento out - Harrison Barnes, 2nd rount pick

Rob Williams is the closest to value.  None of our youngins have value because they never play.

So Sacramento traded away the only two guys that can hit shots on their team and the Pacers no longer have any PF’s? Weird...

You could certainly argue that Sabonis isn't a PF and is better suited to play C. Curious to see him play next to a guy like Barnes.

I mean, he can play both like Horford, but he was a PF in Indiana with Turner at C and if the Kings are starting Holmes, he will be a PF in Sacramento as well.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Hard to build trade value from the deep bench.

I like that deal a lot for the Kings.  The Kings actually got a 2027 2nd rounder in the trade (the only pick).

Fox, Mitchell, Lamb, Holiday, Barnes, Bagley, Sabonis, Holmes

That is a pretty nice 8 man rotation and still have Harkless, Metu, Davis, Len filling out depth.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I feel like there’s some number of unprotected picks the C’s could have offered to get to Halliburton’s value, but if the Pacers preferred someone they could immediately advertise, then no.

Nice rotation on one end but the defense will still stink.

whenever you can trade a guard with good size, all around scoring ability, on a rookie contract, who apparently likes being in Sacramento, for a big man who cannot defend the 5, cannot shoot, and only has 2 years left on his deal, you just HAVE to do it

Potential is a big seller in the NBA. Our young guys had some last year but none now. If they were going to freeze those guys out they should've dumped them last summer.

Why do you assume that they'd build value if they played?  I haven't seen much from either of them that warrants that faith tbh.  And the coach is making rotation decisions with a lot more info than we have, so...

I remain (somewhat irrationally) optimistic on Nesmith, but the reality is that he has to do a lot of work to see the court.

The Kings needed less shooting...

Sac got by far the best player in the deal as well as 2 rotation players.  Indy got an ok prospect (underwhelmed by Haliburton so far), a player they seem to have soured on  (Hield) and a guy more known for who he's sleeping with than what he's doing on the court (Thompson).   You definitely do that deal all day long.  can't believe that's all Indy got for Sabonis
