Sabonis massive Upgrade over AL going forward.  7 assists per game last year that's elite PG level passing 5apg this year.

Sabonis known how to play basketball, make people better he can play point big for us and possibly bring the Team together.

Schroder and Richardson at PG until we add something next year. I think Sabonis is worth a shot. We need to go All in for the Jays soon.

100 times yes. Sabonis is probably the second or third best high-post playmaker in the whole NBA (Jokic is the clear 1st). His efficiency inside the arc is also amazing, and he is a better three point shooter than Smart!
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I agree. Would you add a pick swap if they demanded that?

Smart is a pure defense/hustle role player - there is literally not a single other thing that he does at an above average level.
Romeo is a raw prospect who's shown flashes of usefulness this season here and there, but is still quite raw and has high bust potential.

Sabonis is a 25 year old two-time All-Star big man averaging 19, 12 and 5

How on earth does any Celtics fan say no to this?

Better yet, why on earth would Indiana consider this?

When in recent history has an NBA team traded a 25 year old All-Star big (who's locked in for 3 years on a cap friendly contact) for a role player and a raw, high risk prospect?  Smart is making similar annual salary over a longer period of time, so it doesn't even make sense as a salary dump

Indiana would have to be completely out of their minds to give up Sabonis to Boston for anything less then Tatum or Brown in return.

In fact, if they were to offer Sabonis for Brown I'd have to seriously consider pulling the trigger on that.  Sabonis is IMHO every bit as good a player as Brown is but I feel he'd probably be a better fit with Tatum.

If they were willing to make this deal I would hold all my picks out like a hand of cards and tell them "take what you want".

If they watched last night’s game they’d consider it. If that was Smart every game I wouldn’t do the trade. He’s been a force lately.

A high level role player, a disappointing player, and two first for an All-Star sign me up. It would probably take a swap first option with the two picks or some other team out bids you.

Only issue I see is you probably want to flip TL. I'd try FVV for Schroeder, and TL.

Starters
FVV, JB, JT, Grant, Sabonis

Bench
PP, Josh, Nesmith, Bruno, Al

That starting five is top three in the East. Use TPE, MLE and Al to add bench depth next off season. Buy a pick as well if need be.

I had proposed Smart, Rob, 1st for Sabonis a week or so ago, I still think that is the right type of trade for both teams as Indiana is going to need a better player than Langford and I don't think Sabonis and Rob are a great fit anyway.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Why do you wanna trade Robert Williams? In a playoff game, think opponents would rather see Sabonis in a green uniform, or Williams?

I am one of Smart's biggest fans and believe strongly in his value, and I would do that deal. Sabonis is a clear all-star level player in his early prime.
