Why is this bad exactly? I would argue 3 of the best 6 players in the NBA right now are overseas players: Jokic, KD, Giannis, Steph, LeBron, Luka. You could even include Embiid in that list, although he played college ball in the USA.

Btw, the C's are $5,718,281 over the tax line. I highly doubt we'll use the TPE prior to the trade deadline. Not a significant part of it anyway.

I’d say there’s about a 2% chance we use any meaningful portion of that TPE. Wyc ain’t signing up for that money & tax for this lousy team.

Or Timelord. Even the Celtics get lucky every once in a while.

Or Butler, Gobert, Draymond, Middleton, Siakam, Dejounte Murray, Brogdon, Capela, Bogdan Bogdanovic, SloMo, George Hill, Desmond Bane, I could go on and on...

Yeah, this is why I've ignored the TPE.  It seems like it would only be useful if the player you get back puts you over the top.

That's a painful list to look it given that we drafted Yabu and Zizic over several of these guys.

None of them can dance like Yabu though so there’s that

Celtics ALMOST never get a late first or 2nd round players right..Rondo, couple few others..if they do get an oversea player, they don’t pan out ..Dino Radja right now only one I can think of who did good

Good point.  If we use it, it will likely be done in the off-season before it expires.  Trying to get a player, pay tax, to make the play-in is pretty much a non-starter from ownership perspective.

I think it depends on the player.  If it's a trade for a building block the team will absolutely do it.  If it's for minor help this year that won't guarantee a deep playoff run then no way they use it.
