So the Celtics just get younger and younger and younger. Not sure how that is going to play with Tatum who probably doesn't want these guys taking 3-4 years to get up to speed on what it takes to win in the playoffs.
When Brown and Tatum have played in the playoffs, they have made a great duo and have had a ton of success for guys age 23 and 25. You add veteran talent to them for more playoff success. Guys like Harrison Barnes or Fred VanVleet. Guys with a playoff pedigree.
You don't move one of the Jays for guys that are teenagers or just hit their drinking age and that probably have trouble spelling playoffs nevermind knowing how to play in them.
You really wouldn't make this trade. You can probably flip SGA or Dort for another position of need. Even left alone this team would win more games than our current roster.
Plus your adding much needed passing. 12 plus assists per game would be huge for Tatum and company. A much deeper team than what we have currently.
I probably make this trade. But then I probably set my expectations of winning a title 5-6 years down the line. Maybe farther.
I think keeping the Jays and adding the right talent now, or this offseason, means setting my expectations of winning a title 2 or 3 years from now.
I'm not getting any younger and 2008 is going on 14 years ago. Kicking the can down the street a bunch waiting for youth to mature isn't something I would be looking forward too.
It's good to great trade value for Brown. There's also the possibility none of that youth can perform at a high level on a playoff winning team for many, many years. Brown, meanwhile, has proven to majorly up his game in the playoffs. And his game is pretty dang good to great already.
