It seems almost inevitable they will make some big moves before the deadline. Their current team is an absolute disaster. I don’t know how much of it is decline, poor fit or poor coaching but having nurkic, Powell, lillard, Covington, nance. They should not be one of the worst teams in the league. Do we make sense for some of these guys in a change of scenario trade for both teams? They could probably really use smart.
I would trade Hernangomez and Schroder for Nance and Dennis Smith Jr.  Always liked both guys. I haven’t run the numbers so add pieces on either end to make the salaries work.

I was really high on Nance before Portland, but he seems to not really be making a big positive impact.

I agree….but….”buy low”…maybe perfect time!

He is a role player.  Role players rarely make a difference.

Well I mean they are significantly worse than last year and he was probably their biggest addition. I guess we could pin it all on Lillard playing at career worse levels. I have just never noticed him on the floor when I have watched their games and he seemed to be everywhere in Cleveland. If you tell me it is just a bad fit I will buy it. I know you were a big fan of his.

He is basically the same player he was in Cleveland.  Playing less minutes, not shooting as well from 3, but is shooting better from 2, rebounding a bit more, etc. when you look at it from a per minute standpoint.  Role players just don't move the needle.

Portland is 2-8 without McCollum (11-13 with him) and are 1-5 without Lillard.  Add to that that Lillard has fallen off a cliff and it is pretty easy to see why Portland is a mess.

Boston out:
Hernangomez $7M
Schroder  $5.9M
TOTAL OUT = $12.9m

Portland out:
Nance $10.7M
Smith Jr. $1.8m
TOTAL OUT = $12.5m

Why for Boston:  Get a decent vet who could crack the frontcourt rotation (Juancho could not).  Re-coup value for DS.  Get another PG/ballhandler to share PG with MS/PP, and who is a somewhat recent #9 pick.

Why for Portland: Clear Nance's contract (which still has $10M in the following season) to prep for a signing, i.e. last shot at making something of the Lillard era.

Why for Surferdad:  I'm not ready to trade the Jays, Smart, Horford, Timelord or Richardson.   ;D

Why in the world would we want Nance?

We need more skillful offensive players. Not another defensive orientated below average offensive forward.

well if we could get him for hernangomez and schroder, I think you'd have to do that, but Portland would never do that.
