If the Celtics can get something that has long term value, they need to consider.

But the way he is playing, as long as they are in the playoffs, they cannot move him for just some 2nd round picks.

They should try and get something for him. That was the entire point of getting him for so cheap. Otherwise, you just lose him and get nothing in return.
I mean, you get a year of a good player who helps you win games right now. That's not nothing.
Define “wins you games”. This year is a transition/throwaway year. They basically said as much during the summer. There is no point in keeping Schroeder for the entire season just to lose him for nothing. They can get something like a late first etc for him. He’s not a long term piece so I don’t see what value keeping him for the entire season brings you.
If I'm to define "win you games" I'd define it as winning more games with him than without him.

I guess I just don't like this zero sum thinking. Anything less than a championship is meaningless. If Schroder only spends a year here and then walks, but during that year he plays hard and elevates the team then it was good to have him around and thus, worth the money.

Boston Celtics guard Dennis Schroder and Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant are the two players most likely to be traded before the Feb. 10 NBA trade deadline, per reporter Marc Stein.

According to Stein, rival teams increasingly view Grant as a trade possibility because Detroit has lost 13 games in a row and is on pace to win just 12 games.

Stein also said Schroder is likely to be moved because the Celtics don't want to break up Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and there are questions about whether president of basketball operations Brad Stevens would be willing to move Marcus Smart.

I sure do hope so. Getting a late 1st would be great.

I think this year is pretty much what it is at this point. I expect guys to continue being in and out of the line up and we look like we’re bound for the play-in (7-10) regardless. We probably have the talent to get to the playoffs though so I hope we can at least make it to the 2nd round but I would be surprised if that happened.

C’s need talent!
