  • Let's Go Celtics!
Gotta think Golden State is a lock to go after Domantas. They can build a package around Wiseman + picks and a salary filler with Looney's salary.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan

Sabonis would be great here, but we don't have the assets it would take.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Any chance we move Horford's contract, Schroder, and one of Nesmith or Langford to get Sabonis? We aren't going to be able to keep Schroder, and Horford's contract has value but he's obviously not part of our future.

Since I don't think we can reasonably acquire Sabonis, how about this big trade

Turner, Warren, LeVert

for

Horford, Hernangomez, Langford, Nesmith, 22 1st, 24 1st (lotto)

New Roster

Starters - Smart, LeVert, Brown, Tatum, Turner
Rotation - Schroder, Richardson, Grant, Rob, and eventually Warren
Deep Bench - Pritchard, Fernando, Parker, Freedom
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Trade Brad Stevens, draft picks and anyone else from the team they want except the Jays for Sabonis.

The trade would have to be as follows:

Brown and JHern
for
Sabonis and LeVert

Sabonis would be a really nice big to pair with Tatum.  LeVert is useful.  But Brown would have to go for there even to be a discussion.

I don't think this will happen and I am not even endorsing it but it is close, it is in the ball park of the type of return that they can get from other teams.  All things equal, Tatum and a skilled big is better than Tatum and a skilled SG (all things are never equal though of course).  If you are concerned about Brown's durability or if you feel Tatum is better without Brown (as many seem to be thinking), this could be a really good trade.

I have no interest in Turner.

The Celtics also have their two overseas guards. Can they be thrown into a Sabonis trade?

As much as I've loved having Al back, a big part of bringing him back initially was to have the financial flexibility to get another star. Sabonis isn't exactly Brad Beal but he'd be a terrific fit alongside the J's

No interest in LeVert. Mild interest in Turner but that would likely require further trades to rebalance the team (Horford, Rob Williams overlap). Real interest in Sabonis but only if coming in as an addition to Jaylen & Tatum. No interest in trading Jaylen for Sabonis. Sabonis is not good enough.
