They track them on NBA.com, I think?I don’t think it’s necessary beyond that.

Personally think more credit should be given for the pass before the pass that led to a basket. Curry would clearly be the league leader, I suspect…
Hockey assistsScreens set (on ball/off ball)DrivesTouchesPassesCuts without the ballI'm sure teams keep track of these right? They'd be so good to see for each player. You could make pass% with that, and a couple other cool advanced stats.
In an effort to provide an incentive for increased team play, should the NBA officially track hockey assists and credit them as “secondary assists” (so we could talk of 1A and 2A, assists and secondary assists respectively)? Additional thoughts?

You could make pass% with that, and a couple other cool advanced stats. Some of these are available to the public via NBA.com tracking data. Secondary assists, passes, touches, time of possession, etc.For instance, touches:https://www.nba.com/stats/players/touches/?sort=TOUCHES&dir=1There, we learn that Tatum ranks 40th in the NBA in time of possession. That suggests he’s certainly not a ball hog, particularly for a #1 option. He’s got the ball for a total of 4.5 minutes per game. There’s a lot of cool stuff. It also includes some really interesting defensive data. It’s not as inclusive as the Synergy stuff we used to have access to, but it is still quite informative.

You can did into this stuff for days.If Brad is reading, he should feel free to provide CelticsStrong with a Synergy subscription. We don't want anything proprietary, just the basic stuff. That's a rabbit hole that is very, very fun to go down.
