Our dude is number 1 in jacking up shots in the league. Most shots out of anyone.
And that's fine, he's our number 1 after all.
Just wish he was hitting it at ANY rate OTHER than a career lowest %.
It's very fair to say that if he'd produce at last year's clip, we would've had 5+ fewer losses right now, and everything would be different.
Here's his stats so far;

We've also changed his on-ball opportunities quite a bit, which moved away from his strengths:

Obviously he's been shooting much worse, but a good part of the blame lies on the coach for asking him to create in situations that he's not very good at.
Yeah, I believe that.
I reckon there's a correlation between league leading number of shots, and worse shooting% than ever.
Yeah it's just pretty mind-numbing to be a Celtics fan right now: we're preaching patience for our coach to hopefully develop into one that's not outright awful someday, and that's simply not smart team management by any sports club worth their salt.
Can I just say, thats not Entirely true. Yes, he's taking fewer shots as the PnR handler, but its not like all of those went to ISO. They seem to be split between ISO's which he was bad at last year, screens which he was okay at and Spot Up's which he was elite at last year. The bigger issue is that EVERY play type besides PnR handler has fallen, and his spot up efficiency is off a cliff. So the coach isnt REALLY asking him to do stuff he bad at he's asking him to do stuff he was good at last year too. Also, I doubt Ime wants Tatum iso-ing as much a he does. The biggest issue is that Tatum is all of a sudden bad at almost everything shooting wise.
Whats happening here is simple. The Celtics have a lot of guys who can dribble and run some offense Like Brown, Smart, Shrode,r JRich but VERY few who can space the floor. As a result it makes it harder t just run Tatum as a PnR handler every time down the court. They've tried spacing more with him, but he's bricking shots.
