I didn't like running the offense through Richardson when Tatum, Schroeder, and Smart were off the floor, but I do like how Ime is showing how he believes in Richardson. That's instilling confidence he hasn't had from a coach since Miami.
Love love love the tough-nosed defense. Several really fun defensive plays this game. Schroeder, Smart, and Richardson are all pests on guards. Loved how Grant Williams completely engulfed that guy on the fast break. The Raptors were clearly afraid to shoot inside, which means Rob Williams' (and Horford's) reputation is growing.
Anyone else notice how Ime targeted Gary Trent Jr.? GTJ is the steals leader in the NBA, but for much of the 4th, Ime tried to get switches for the ball handler on to him. Interesting strategy. GTJ really couldn't stay in front of anyone so I understand now, but not something I would thought to do. That's a pretty advanced coaching read and Ime deserves credit for that.
I don't feel like the offense has any rhythm yet, but it does seem like the players feel empowered. Hopefully, this will allow the players to continue to get to their areas of the floor and get good shots, which will develop player's rhythm, even if there isn't as much scheme rhythm.
