It’s still early but this year, the games have seemingly been allowed to be more physical. Even the ol’ pump fake lean-in isn’t being called an auto-foul anymore. As a fan of tough, physical defense, I’m glad the league is allowing more contact and taking away some of (what I felt were) the glaring advantages of the offensive player.

How do you guys feel about this new set of rules?

I like it a lot better but the refs are still blowing lots of calls. It's a step in the right direction. They still need to get rid of the intentional foul on the break.

Loving the new officiating style. The refs still aren't perfect by far, but when you limit the amount of calls they're making and raise the standard of what is considered a foul or violation, you're going to obviously have more objective officiating and less subjective, inconsistent calls.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

and there's still this: Yahoo Sports:
"Officials admit Kevin Durant should have been ejected after throwing ball into stands vs. Pacers"

Yeah this is a bad look. Officials are still soft towards stars, which is def annoying. That game was also the first time Harden cracked double digits in free throws so maybe something was up with that game (I didn’t watch it). Prior to that game, Harden was like averaging 4FTA’s or something?

Admitting it afterwards doesn't make it better!

The officials have had mandates from the league in the past to call plays and fouls different only to fall back into their usual way of calling things later in the season.

I like that the refs are calling less contact, especially on non-basketball related shooting moves, but I am not going to hold my breath that it's a permanent thing

I like the more physical game, the last few years it favored offense too much.   The problem with this is we are team of finesse players with nary one bruiser on the team.

Have to agree.

New rules awe awesome. Loving it.

New rules. Unfortunately, old reffing. Don't believe how the NBA can keep getting this wrong. Honestly believe there's rigging.

I like the intent, but the quality of execution is as crap as it's ever been.

Still waiting for someone to get a tech for hanging on the rim needlessly.

The changes to not allow the flagrant baiting that are really offensive fouls, to me, has been great. Hopefuly the league stays firm and doesn't capitulate to the whining stars

I love getting rid of the Harden foul scheme of drawing fouls.   I turned off Rockets games , I hated to watch his type of basketball.

I want to see him score 50 a game now on anybody’s team without all the bs plays of drawing fouls .

I think NBA wanted to keep the game moving , complete games in allotted TV time ,  killing the maddening Harden fouls stopping play 25 times a game is so refreshing.

The games have been so much more enjoyable, basketball is physical game , even playing at a local driveway as kid ….allowing physical play lets the players go full out and the game is way more exciting .
