Now he looks slimmer and quicker .He moves well in open court and on cuts. He was moving well laterally and stayed in front of Ish Smith only to be sored on with a fall away You could see the effort on defense Several times he did a very good job and the offensive player would get bailed out with a hand in your face fall away..i'm watching the game on replay and paused at mid 4th quarter .
.
I posted this because did i see, what i thought i saw?  Defense that could support his offensive capabilities.
Rollie Massimino used to say defense was 90% desire  ,Some posters called him heavy footed laterally .Could that have been the result of his ACL injuries.
I would love a feel good story.

Still hard to know what we have/can get out of Parker.  What he did last night was promising.  He looked much better.  If he can keep that up or even improve on it some, he can play a key role for the team.  He could pair well with either Horford or RWill as a swing/PF.

If, if, if, if.....

Hard not to root for him.

He looked like he had his caffeine last night and was engaged and giving the effort.  Mike or Scal commented on how winded he looked during a free throw break.  He didn't give up on plays prematurely like he usually seems to do.  Generally he looks pretty lazy maybe because he's never in shape, but I was very happy with the way he played last night.  I hope it continues.

He can be an elite scorer off the bench.   His defense is poor, but he can rebound some and is a better small ball five than Grant.    He changed the pace of the game last night and got us back into it.

Jabari helped keep us in the game in the first half.  A real plus. Given that those were his first minutes of the season, quite impressed.  Grant has been playing so well, it is keeping his minutes down a lot.

Jabari looked good last night because he was 3 for 4 from three point land. He is a career 32% three point shooter.

How much are people singing his praises if he went 1 for 4 from three, score 6 or 7 points, was completely winded after a bit, holding his hand up asking to be pulled from the game and played his usual horrible defense?

I am guessing people wouldn't be so positive about his performance, and yet, that's what could have happened if he misses 2 threes that he made.

I am rather miffed that he was in such terrible cardio shape that he was huffing and puffing so bad after a short stint in the game that he was actively raising his hand to be substituted out. As a pro player, after 5 weeks of training camp, preseason and games, he shouldn't be so winded after only a few minutes in one half.

I think he puts a lot more effort into his defense when he's hitting his shots too, so his hot shooting probably made him look better all around for one night.

If he can get it together, he is a good switch on /off with Grant Williams in the PF rotation. He is aggressive on offense being...he gets the ball and immediately looks to score.

Great size and athleticism.

The guy has been around too long to be a project. All of his problems that prevent him from being a dependable NBA rotation player are his own.

Grant Williams, as an example, has half the natural talent that Parker has and Grant can play legit NBA defense on most bigs he switches onto and he is 70 for 167 beginning in 2019/20 post season. That is 41.9% NBA three point shooting. Parker's career is 33%.

Grant can start a playoff game against the top bigs, Parker has to "find it" and his rookie year 2014/15.

It would be amazing if he could be effective with regular minutes...this teams bigs, at this moment look really really good.

Horford
Williams
Grant

Have been working well, it would be great if Parker could help out.

Here's the flip side to your comment.  When Jabari was in there he was 100% on O and D.  No one on the court is going 100% the entire time.  He was basically doing wind sprints the whole time.  I'm sure any player would be winded after a 5 minute stink of 100% effort.  Most players get their rest when the ball is not in their hands or with their man.  Jabari was being attached every time on D because he's considered the weak link like Kanter.  On O he scored our points.  I thought he played great even if he didn't score.  On D he was active, got a deflection and didn't get beat.  Keep it up Jabari!

Udoka called him instant offense. That's what I see. He comes into the game and just makes things happen offensively. That's a valuable guy to have. Because of his defense and inconsistent shooting, he might not be a big minute every night guy but I bet he's a guy who wins a playoff game or two when someone else doesn't have it.

Why did he only play nine minutes?

This is a rather odd post for a guy hustling for the Cs.
