Hopeful Rob is alright. The first diagnosis was a left knee sprain so I’m optimistic that it isn’t serious. The couple of weeks of rest might do him well as well.

Toronto’s a young, long, gritty team, not great to face on a back to back. With Siakam starting at Center, they won’t outsize us.

 Ugh...

After Sunday night's win over the Timberwolves, Tatum implied that he may sit out Monday's game at Toronto, Jay King of The Athletic reports.

I hate seeing the Celts punt any game, but if there's going to be "load management", maybe it's best to do it all at once.  I know that both Jays have had some nagging injuries.

It hurts, but I agree. If healthy, this team can beat anybody in the playoffs (although I'd still rather avoid Brooklyn in the first round). Let's get them there.

Sean Grande @SeanGrandePBP

Sunday was the 19th time in the last decade (711 games), the Celtics shot 56% from the floor... ...and the third time they've done it in the last four games. For the last 30 games, the Celtics have the NBA's #1 defense...and the #1 offense.

That’s just crazy.

Hoopsrumors:Celtics To Sign Juwan Morgan To 10-Day Contract
March 28th 2022 at 10:30am CST by Luke Adams

Quote
The Celtics have agreed to sign forward Juwan Morgan to a 10-day contract, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link).

Morgan was in camp with the Celtics in the fall, but was waived before the regular season began and subsequently joined the team’s G League affiliate in Maine. He earned a 10-day call-up from the Raptors in December when Toronto was hit hard by COVID-related absences, but has otherwise spent the 2021/22 season in the G League.

Morgan has appeared in 20 regular season NBAGL games for the Maine Celtics this season, averaging 12.1 PPG, 5.6 RPG, and 2.8 APG on .509/.340/.730 shooting in 25.9 minutes per contest.

A former Big Ten standout at Indiana, Morgan went undrafted in 2019 and caught on with the Jazz, first signing an Exhibit 10 deal with Utah and then agreeing to a multiyear deal with the team. In 51 total regular season games with Utah and Toronto across three seasons, the 24-year-old has averaged 1.5 PPG and 1.2 RPG on 52.5% shooting in just 6.0 MPG.

The Celtics have an open spot on their 15-man roster, so no corresponding move will be required to sign Morgan, who will earn $95,930 on his 10-day deal. He’ll provide some forward depth in case the club wants to rest Jaylen Brown (right knee soreness) and/or Jayson Tatum (right patella tendinopathy) for a game or two.

I was really impressed by Morgan yesterday in Maine, but I'm confused by the signing.  We're down two centers, and we sign a forward?

Morgan is generally a 4.  I don’t think he’s seeing the rotation in any case, but he’s logged NBA minutes as a center before.

Why not sign a guy who actually could see the rotation in an emergency?

I don't want a 6'7" G-League guy doing any work at center.

I wish they took a flier on Marc Gasol just to see if he has anything left in the tank. He did lood decent during the recent world cup.

If there were a player out there who you'd want to see in the rotation in an emergency, he’d already be signed.  That said, Toronto runs Paskal Siakam at center for a good chunk of minutes, so if there’s a game you can get by with a 6’7” guy at center, it’s tonight.  In the long run, Horford will presumably be back and we’ll only need one additional big, and that could be either a 4 or a 5 given the scheme and versatility of the current bigs.  On the off chance Morgan sneaks into the rotation on an emergency basis going forward, you’d see Horford and Theis playing a center rotation, with Morgan aborbing some minutes at PF.

ESPN Sources: Celtics C Robert Williams has suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee and will minimally miss several weeks. Further evaluation today will help provide a timetable. Boston moved into first-place Sunday, and Williams has been immense part of NBA’s best defense.

My guess , is they aren’t looking for a center , but a guy to help GWilliams spot.  As he pulls weight at center.

Not my choice either 6’ 7” .no name nobody . Looks like they can do better than that.

Looks like Kanter,  or some other former 7 ft guy would be better .
