Really like this Memphis team..no one talking bout them potentially winning a title

I like them too. Ja is probably my favorite non-celtic player in the league to watch.  Grizzlies have a good team and they are really well coached, but they need another All star to go with Morant. Bane as your second best player is not going to be good enough In the playoffs.

Either the Lakers or NO will get into the final play-in game with a record equivalent to 7-10 in football.
Pretty ugly and not deserving of earning a post-season chance.   The regular season should mean something.   Lakers and New Orleans should be heading home after 82.

When 20 out of 30 teams have the opportunity to play games after the regular season is over, you have a problem. You render your regular season almost meaningless.

Baseball is expanding their post season, but they shouldn't. They had it right limiting the playoff teams to just 10 teams out of 30. It makes the season meaningful.

Play-in remains an absolute shambles.

They're probably okay with that given Jaren Jackson is their 2nd best player.

If Morant was good enough then sure, but Morant isn't good enough this year.  Given he is in his 3rd year and just 22, that makes sense.  He just needs a few more years.  I'm not sure they beat Minnesota in the 2/7 matchup (they should beat the Clippers).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

Yeah, I don't think Memphis are good enough either. But JJJ is definitely better than Bane. He's a DPOY contender

Yeah, Jackson can’t shoot and he's not even averaging 6 boards a game for an athletic 6’11”/ 242lb PF. He’s underachieved since entering the NBA.

He's the league leader in blocks and blocks per game despite only playing 27MPG, and transforms Memphis' defence - and you're bringing up his shooting? Lol.

There’s actually a 3 way tie for league leader in blocked shots per game with Gobert, Timelord and Jackson Jr. I get that he blocks a lot of shots, but there’s more to the game than that. His odds of winning DPOY are as good as Timelords.

Memphis just strikes me as one of those deep regular teams that doesn't have the horses come playoff time.  Their starting 5 are all good players i.e. Morant, Bane, Brooks, Jackson, and Adams, plus they have very nice depth with Williams, Anderson, Jones, Melton, Clarke, etc., but come playoff time when rotations crunch, I just don't think they are good enough.  They don't have the horses you need to win 7 game series against real contenders.  They may get by Minnesota or Los Angeles, but I'd be pretty darn surprised if they beat Golden State or Denver in the 2nd round, let alone Phoenix, Dallas, or even Utah.

Yeah, they remind me of The Hawks last year.
