About time for Gobert.  I was kind of hoping he would be paired with Giannis to create an unsolvable defense.
I thought Somebody might take him (instead of Jimmy B) and slot Gobert next to AD. That was my dream defensive combo.

I ultimately felt like I had to choose someone who I felt was the most talented player on the board and would work well on my team (yes, I know he's not a perfect fit with Bam but I think that Curry fixes both of those issues if I pick correctly in the next two rounds). Doing that, knowing full well that this board is highly divided on Simmons and skews negative. He's just too good and dangerous on both sides to pass up - even if it comes with the baggage. Easily 1st round talent in my opinion with a 6th round perception.

I mentioned this in the Ben Simmons thread but I was impressed by the the Sixers W-L records with and without Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid.

Without Embiid, they were 10 wins 11 losses.
Without Ben Simmons, they were 7 wins 7 losses.

I was surprised Philly were not able to withstand the loss of Ben Simmons better than they were but it does show just how valuable his defense, rebounding and passing can be.

So I did not expect this guy to be here. A bit unsure about him but there is no denying the guy is a game-changer so I am going to pick Rudy Gobert with the 4th pick.
Gobert was my backup plan if I couldn't select Middleton. Generally speaking, I'm kinda low on drop bigs, but Gobert is an absolutely elite defender in a drop scheme. Nice value pick in the 3rd round!

Gobert was my backup plan if I missed out on Middleton. Don't love drop bigs tbh, but Gobert is absolutely elite in what he does. Nice value pick in the 3rd round!

Me either. The other option I was contemplating was a guard who can shoot well enough to exploit those drop bigs in a major way thinking that would give me three perimeter guys who can all knock down 3s off the dribble in PnRs to exploit those slow footed bigs like Gobert.

I was watching some clips of Gobert and another center who is more mobile and well rounded defensively (and offensively) and I was taken aback at just how large of a difference there was in terms of intimidation 15 feet and in between the two. Guys wouldn't even shoot when Gobert was in the vicinity and they tended to shoot well against the other guy even though he was doing a really good job out there. I am not sure if Gobert or the other guy is the better player to be honest ... but this is why I picked Gobert over him.

Detroit (Celtic Fan Forever) has missed their pick. I have a board from nickagneta, but I saw him online not long ago so I'll give him until the last minute to make the pick himself :)

Ugh, soooo close. Jrue Holiday was my main target this round. Tried trading up for him, but unfortunately couldn't get a good deal.

Yeah, not sure I agree with picking Morant before several other point guards still on the board.
