https://nesn.com/2021/07/nba-rumors-celtics-discussing-trade-with-pacers-for-myles-turner/

Just saw this on the NESN site. This is from an indy reporter. My phone is low on juuce so can't dig up anything else right now lol.

The Pacers and Celtics have indeed begun discussions about a potential Myles Turner trade,” reported Indianapolis-based reporter Evan Massey of NBA Analysis Network on Monday. “It’s the third straight offseason the two teams have discussed such a deal, but this time it’s Brad Stevens making decisions instead of Danny Ainge.”

Because 4 centers isn't enough.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

Because 4 centers isn't enough.

Tristan, Time Lord, and Edwards for Turner is about the only deal that could possibly make sense for the Celtics, and it only makes sense for the Pacers if they want to keep Sabonis at the 4 full-time.

Pass on that one.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I'm wondering if a trade like this means Brad wants to use Hortford in a separate deal to match salaries. For maybe going after Beal?

There's no way that they make a big deal about bringing back Horford, who is respected by the entire organization, only for the purpose of using his salary in a deal.

Turner is $18M/yr for 2 years

This leaves multiple options that work on the trade machine of which NONE are mine...thus read and weep or rejoice.

Fournier $18M or whatever my guess 3 years
(Why Pacers want Fournier is your guess. They seem to have numbers of wings)

Smart (1 yr) and Langford (2 yr)
(Langford was Mr. Indiana - appeared in 50 reg season games in his career)

Thompson (1 yr) Langford (2 yr) Parker (1 yr or take your choice from young guys).

In my view Turner is a consistent player whom isn't over paid and why would the Pacers want to trade him for what the Celtics have which? Looks like nuthin'.

Thus, are the Pacers crazy for Langford or Robert or Smart??

Or, do the Pacers have some giant deal and they need to trade Turner for nothing to the Celtics first before they can do it?

My only "conspiracy theory" is Smart. Smart could be their guy and they will pay him whereas Turner is not their guy and they don't want to pay him.

Don't tell me that the Pacers want Thompson as all he offers is expiring.

Or...this rumor is jive left over from last two seasons.

If Smart is the deal?

Turner
Thompson
Robert
M. Brown

Are all on the roster and Turner is the only one who can shoot threes.

Smart + Robert seems possible if the Pacers want the injury liability or they just want the expiring money.

It doesn’t make much sense to me. Unless there’s some sort of deal to get Turner/Brogdon for some combo of Smart/TT/Timelord/Langford/picks. I love Brogdon would be a good fit with the Js imo.

Thank you. I have no idea how anyone can think Horford is going anywhere. What this rumor really says is how divergent Brad and Danny were on personnel issues. It also adds evidence to the case that Danny’s move were not fully endorsed by his coach. He is trying to fix Danny’s most recent big moves.

Turner has some talent and is not priced terrible contract wise.  I think Indy is motivated as He and sabonis are not a great fit on the floor together.  If that allows us to move TT and a few salary matches it might not take more.  If they really want smart then I want more back from indy as I think there would be a penalty to take their contract off their hands for another center.  Not sure we can match brogdan and turner without a S&T for Evan, but might be worth it.

Why are you assuming this is true? This is a random dude from the “NBA Analyst Network”.  Basically, a poor man’s Fansided.

This is fiction.

Opposite.

Timelord's health is a real concern now. But when he's healthy, he's flat out better than Miles Turner.
