Tatum and Towns would be simply unstoppable. KAT is quite genuinely perhaps the greatest shooting big man of all time, if he continues at this rate. He's also a really strong passer, dominant scorer at all other levels, generates a decent amount of free throws, rebounds well. His defensive woes are overrated by a lot of people.

Dunno about Lillard, his contract is simply ridiculous. Definitely wouldn't do it for Simmons - might do it for Beal, but unlikely.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

no to all 4.  any trades should be geared towards ADDING TO Jaylen and Jayson, not replacing one of them.

IF Brown were truly on the table, it would have to be a part of a package for a player that would be clearly better than Tatum such that the C's could be contenders for several years with just Tatum and that player otherwise, trading Jaylen is at best a lateral move and more than likely a step backwards.

I'd put Jokic, Doncic, Durant and Giannis at that level.  If Embiid and AD could stay healthy, I'd include them as well.  I'm on the fence abut Harden.  I don't see Beal, KAT or Kawhi in that group much less Lillard and Simmons is a train wreck right now.

No to all 4.

You need to find a way to ADD to your two stars, not swap one of them out.

This particular star is still young, likely to keep getting better, on a great contract (contrast with Lillard), and one of the most respected player voices in the league. Hard pass.

I see SGA and Mitchell as sideways moves.

Young and Fox are step back moves as their offense is great but they are still two of the worst and least physical defenders in the league.

I wouldn't trade for Embiid because I don't trust he will be healthy enough or mentally tough enough to deliver a title.

only reason I didn't include Lebron is his age and his apparent need to coast during the regular season.  while he's still a top player, I don't see him having that status for much longer

I'm getting old. I want to see more Celtic titles. If Lebron teaming with Tatum gets me a championship or two over the next 3-4 years, I would sacrifice my favorite Celtic in a very, very long time, JB.

I'm getting old as well and want to see titles too.  This isn't a decision I'd make due to my intense disgust with what Lebron did to get to Miami and LA but one based on purely a basketball perspective.  At this stage, I don't think just substituting Lebron for Brown gets us those titles.   add him to the J's, we're contenders.  swapping him for Jaylen, we're in the discussion only because of Lebron's name at this stage.

I second this motion.

I also believe with how Jaylen's been progressing, I'd rather have him over a regressing LeBron.

I'd rather have MORE chance over time, than LESS chance over time.

Besides, it feels like LBJ would be a 1-2 year window tops.

The idea of trading Brown is foolish. Since the Horford trade, you can just keep Brown and sign a max guy to have three stars.

Trading Brown for almost any other star that is established likely screws up the cap space for a third star player. So if you are suggesting a trade of Brown it needs to be for a guy making less. And I say that because no way is Lillard+Tatum or Towns+Tatum better that having say Tatum+Brown+Beal+the other assets kept in not making a deal. It's easy math...

How the media guys keep ignoring this fact when saying "find a better fit with Tatum", is very annoying. I understand that they need something to talk about but it sounds like they have no clue on the team's salary and potential to sign guys next year.
