From what I have been able to read, his buy out is about 700k so pretty much zero chance Cs do that.

This is a no brainer, if the C's feel he can contribute, they'll pay the fee.  The summer league will tell a lot.

It depends.  We’d have to use the MLE to sign him, and I think the team would prefer to use the MLE on a more established player.

I think it depends what happens with Fournier.  If they sign Fournier, then I doubt they’ll go the MLE route for a free agent, and would likely use it on #45 and/or Yam.  Yam’s buyout I believe is below any threshold to count against the cap/tax.

Still, I’m hoping he signs in Belgrade for a couple of seasons before coming here.

Probably only if his current team gives permission.  They might do so if they think it will lead to the Celtics or a Euro team paying his buyout.

That would be unfortunate, unless they used the TPE to bring in an additional player.

If Boston buys Yam out, they should give him a vet min contract for 2 years with a team option for a third. Given they are picking up the cost of the buyout and that Mader is still a 2nd rounder, Yam should be good with that contract.

Might be best just to let him develop another year in Europe though.

I'm not convinced the MLE market is going to be full of useful players this summer, especially since a Fournier signing would mean the C's are all but guaranteed to be at the taxpayer MLE level.

Despite all the hype, I for one am not impressed with the tape.   I am looking to summer league to see if I am right or wrong about Yam, I wish him the best.   I think as with all our new players there is irrational exuberance in the fan base.....for the lastest perceived hope.

I’ll take that bet.  There are a ton of useful players available in free agency, perhaps the best middle to lower class in years.

We'll see.  I think there are enough teams with $10-$20 million in cap space, and enough others with full MLE space (as opposed to taxpayer) to dry up the mid-level free agent class pretty quickly.

Yeah, I have no idea what he’ll be. Trying to keep my hopes at a reasonable level.

Doesn’t help when they write an article like this, where they say he’s up to 40.7% from 3 on 4.4 attempts/ game because he’s a quick, confident shooter when the defender goes under a screen. Honestly, if he can become a solid reserve PG who distributes the ball, hits open 3s, and isn’t a liability on defense, that would be a *huge* win for a player drafted in the 40s.
