From that group I’d be interested in:
Jeff Green
Torrey Craig
PJ Tucker
Nicolas Batum

Basically, the guys that ensure Semi will not be back and put Grant on notice that, if he doesn’t qualitatively improve to beat a guy like this out, he will not have a rotation spot next year.

This is a pretty depressing list. I guess Jeff Green or Reggie Bullock. If do trade TT I wouldn't hate having Lopez to have someone that can bang on the boards. Also, I think a substantial amount of these players won't be in the league next year.

Most of these guys are end of the bench but if these playoffs have proved anything it's that those guys can be important come playoff time. A couple of these guys shoot high 30%-40% from three. Most of these are vert minium guys, cheap.

I remember a number of people were so hot to acquire a number of these players from their draft night through today.  amazing to see them on this list and be so underwhelmed by the slim pickings for a quality player.

There are at least a couple of these guys that could help the Celtics.

Is there room for FAs?

Smart/PP/Yam
Fournier/Langford/Edwards
Brown/Nesmith/45
Tatum/Parker/GW
Horford/ TT/ Brown/TL

I suppose if you move guys there could be but depending on who that is is who the Cs would want.

Bucks signed Bobby Portis for two years @ $3.6 mm/ 3.8 mm.  They are so smart getting those deals done.

What happened to Marvin Williams? Did he retire?

Yeah, there is a couple of good guys here who can give us depth 8-15 in the depth chart. I like the look of some of these shooters (SG, SF, PF). Some alternative options to Romeo & Nesmith. A 3rd string PG. A backup PF.

So GW and TT as trade fodder. I don't trust Jabari Parker. I'd be happy to dump him as well.

I would like a proven NBA PG as 3rd string PG behind Smart and Pritchard. Not Yam. No interest in bringing Carsen Edwards back as an undersized SG. I want a SG with legit size who can defend & shoot. I want a SF behind Nesmith who has legit size and can defend.

I like Semi and want him back.

------------------------------

I want some actual depth. Not more kids on the end of the bench who we cannot trust when our other kids (Romeo, Nesmith, Pritchard, Timelord, Moses Brown) run into trouble.

We need vets behind these guys.

Too many kids!!!

what's left after the starting 5 is woefully young (Romeo, Pritchard, Nesmith) or injury-risk (TL/Parker) assuming the subtractions you've indicate are made (and I'm on board with them).

this emphasizes the need to fill out that bench with 3 solid vets either as FAs or via the trade route using TT, Grant and Edwards.  resigning Semi is not an option I like particularly if we still have GWill.  it'd be one thing if Semi was going to be 14-15 on the depth chart but it's clear with that roster he's like 7-8 and that's pretty bad for this team.

Probably my fault on having the thread go into roster evaluation instead of favorite low cost FAs. We probably need a separate thread to debate and describe our views on the roster and how it should be built. We should probably keep this to favorites in general. I will post the guys I like as players on next post.

Portis's second year is at his option. Doubt he'll be that cheap if he doesn't opt-in. Per Fansided:

Quote
Portis finished out the 2020-21 season with the third-best 3 point shooting percentage in the league at an astounding 47.1 percent clip on 2.4 attempts per game while scoring 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in a little over 20 minutes of action a night.

Also, Dunn and Green have player options. Dunn would be a decent PG backup as a vet min, but the player option's for $5 MM. Green's is for $7.6 MM.

I’d be happy with James Ennius as a bench wing. Versatile, can shoot, plays alright defence. Same with Tony Snell - since 2016 has been a 42% shooter from deep, capped off with his 50/50/100 year.

Trade Thompson for a reliable bench 4. My dream would be to somehow flip TT and a pick / prospect for Thad Young. That trade, signing Snell and Ennis + extending Fournier would leave us with:

Smart / Pritchard
Fournier / Snell / Langford
Brown / Nesmith / Ennis
Tatum / Young / Parker
Horford / Williams / Brown

The passing of a Horford / Young duo would be amazing to watch!
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Hopefully we get at least 2 good vets on the bench..tired of all the d-leaguers & rookies every year
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
