This could be pasted from summer of any year in recent history.

I'll believe it when I see it.  certainly can't include the draft as part of the excitement

It's only June and we've seen Allen and Larranaga go, as well as a left-field coach hire + a blockbuster trade.

July has to be wild to beat that
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I don’t think the coaching hire was too out of left field.  Coach Ime’s name came up pretty early in the discussion, and he seemed like a probable candidate once we got past the names Vegas was willing to take bets on.

That's true, I probably more meant left-field move of Ainge leaving and Brad taking his role than the Udoka appointment itself.

Fair.  It’s been a long month — I thought that happened in May.

Don't we hear that every year?  Busy July and a busy trade deadline.  Hey Wyc, zip it and let Stevens and Ime run the team.

This is true but Ainge was running the show.  With the Horford deal it makes Steven's look more willing to make a deal.

I doubt there will be fireworks but I do expect to see the team makena few minor trades. Thompson, end of roster, FA.  Potential draft daybdeal to get a early 2nd round pick.

I hate this view.  For one the Walker/Horford trade seemed to be in the works for a while when Ainge was at the helm, and it has been reported Stevens has been consulting with Ainge a lot on decisions.

Also Ainge brought in Horford first time around, took a chance with Irving, and brought in Hayward.  It wasn’t like Ainge was sitting on his hands doing nothing, it just didn’t work out how we wanted it, but a lot had to do with Hayward’s devastating injury.

I second this response - TP

I like Wyc, and appreciate it how he is willing to go toe to toe with those complete idiots on sports radio.

Fireworks?

Lol.

Yeah….we heard that before.
In the last 5 years, the Celtics have traded for Kyrie Irving, traded for Kemba Walker, signed Al Horford, signed Gordon Hayward, and traded the #1 overall pick.

Has any team had more fireworks?

To be fair, negotiating contracts/extensions with Fournier, Smart, and Rob, navigating the draft, a Thompson trade for a player at another position, and at least one free agent signing with the MLE would be a pretty busy 4-6 weeks, even if people would frame it as inaction.

Larranaga had to move on when he didn't get the head coaching job. Even if Udoka kept him he'd likely be getting a demotion and he's been on the staff forever. My guess is he pursues a college job somewhere - or maybe joins his dad at Miami to become coach in waiting.
