Hardy is a huge get. He's in the Spoelstra mould - rising from the ranks of video intern to senior assistant in 5 years under Pop.

2/3 of Pop's top assistants, only missing Becky Hammon :P
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Bring on the former Spurs.
Just wondering how much esteem Pop would be held in if the Celtics had gotten Duncan in that lottery.
Personally I think your coaching staff can lose you more games than it wins. Talent is what really matters above all else.
The media loves to rail on how wonderful these assistants are - mainly I think because they're sources for writers and give them some inside info.

Just in terms of quality of coach - I think the new staff has a standard to live up to. Brad's staff and Brad himself were pretty effective until this past season.

Will the Celtics add someone with head coaching experience to their staff? The Nets for instanced added both D'antoni and Jacque Vaughan to support Nash. Udoka has plenty of coaching experience, but no head coaching experience. I've heard, for instance, Mike Brown as the type of person who might be a good addition.

You don't think his current boss won't throw some constructive criticism every once and a while?

Serious  question. Could someone like McHale or Parish coach a big man in today's NBA? The game has changed so much for big men since they had played.

I hope that Ime gets an offensive coach guru, whether a former HC like DAntoni or an assistant guy who has great credentials.

Is this official?

If so, I'm guessing he will be coaching the summer league team. Ime will be in Tokyo.

I agree Hardy reminds me of the Spolestra mould.  Do you know if his strength is on either side of the ball.  We really could use an offensive coaching mind.

I think McHale could, simply because he was a pretty decent head coach not too long ago before Harden assassinated him. He also had a good shooting touch, played really versatile defence pre-injury and was a solid passer. Not sure about the Chief.
I'd like Udoka to get LaMarcus Aldridge in. They're very close, and his offensive skills were great.

He probably will, Hardy has Summer League experience too. Not sure about if he's specifically strong on either side, but I guess given his history as video coordinator he'd likely be balanced.

I asked this when Udoka was announced, but is Clifford Ray still around? Too old? Fond memories of his work here.

Good idea, I'd love to see Aldridge as the big man coach. Good point about McHale. He also did mentor KG.
