Considering now that the 2021 draft positions are set, I am curious if there could be some key availabilities?
The Pistons are set to draft Cade Cunningham, could Killian Hayes be available? If Cleveland Cavs pick up Jalen Suggs could Garland or Sexton be available for a trade? I also wonder what the Warriors will do with Wiseman given how much work he needs and obviously doesn’t fit their timeline, could he be available too?
Killian Hayes
Darius Garland
Colin Sexton
James Wiseman
Would you want the Celtics to move for any of these players?
My expectation with Cleveland and GS is that one of Sexton/Garland/#3 plus Kevin Love might become available if a star comes available, and similarly Wiggins/Wiseman/picks is GS's "trade for a star" package, but there's no reason for them to punt on their young guys just because. Detroit's likely just going to stockpile youth and see which ones pan out.
Something like this makes sense for both teams
Love, Sexton, 3
for
Simmons, Maxey, Milton, 28, 22 1st
Sixers move on from Simmons, but can still compete next season (especially if they get anything from Love). Cavs get a legit building block piece, 2 nice young rotation guys, and 2 draft picks. Plus they get out from Love's contract.
Sixers
Sexton, Curry, Harris, Love, Embiid with D. Green, J. Green, Hill, Thybulle, Scott
Cavs
Garland, Simmons, Okoro, Nance, Allen with Osman, Maxey, Milton, Windler, Dotson, 28
Some interesting teams there. Cavs would have to be sold on Simmons to do that (and less sold on Green or Suggs), but it does get them out of Love's contract and paying Sexton a ton of money. I think the Cavs in that scenario might look to move Nance for a SG and play Simmons at PF.
