Anyone else hear the "veterans we'll talk about in free agency" comment?

Wonder what veterans they are going after.

Also, can't help but notice how much he brought up Marcus Smart. I don't think Smart is getting traded.

Respect for Smart around the NBA is magnitudes higher than it is on this forum.

Yep. He became the lightning rod for discontented fans over the last half of the season.

If you were trying to pick any realistic non-star point guard to play for Ime and next to Brown/Tatum, you would pick Marcus Smart.

Yeah him if you want a defensive guard alongside them, McCollum if you want an offensive one.
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

Smart had to step into the role as a third star this year. It was a role that he was ill-suited for. Smart has to be the 5th option in the starting unit and then he's a perfect starting point. He's 13th in assists in the NBA and the only one in front of him on that list that you could get would probably be Westbrook, maybe Simmons.

He also touched on getting the young guys to contribute more. Excited with what he plans to do with Neismith and Romeo.

Yeah, these guys need consistent minutes. It pays off come playoff time. Brad was jerking guys in and out all year and then had to rely on them come playoff time. Play the young guys and play at least 10 deep all year.

This was one of my favorite takes as well.  He really emphasized our first round picks, and that they have some much room for  development.  Didn't sound like a coach begging his GM to trade his young guys for vets.   My guess is that Brad will give him the opportunity to further develop the young players, and see how they develop.

I have really loved all the quotes from the presser.  I am going to have to listen to the whole thing.
I am getting more excited about our new Coach Udoka!

Might get overlooked with everyone talking about the press conference (or maybe has already been posted), but James Posey wrote a nice article congratulating Udoka, but also giving a nice inside look in how the NBA helps players transition to other roles like coaching, and what it's like as a former player trying to get a head coaching job.  Pretty short, easy read, but insightful.

Its good that he knows Pritchard already.   So he already knows several guys on the team.... jumpstart on relationship

The best part of the presser still for me was when he told Leonard along the lines  "what are you waiting for?  don't give too much respect"

I want Brown and especially Tatum to have this mindset.   Less idolizing and more building own path

Considering that by 2/3rds of the way through the season, The Celtics were toast, Stevens would still pull Pritchard out after 4 minutes. It really does take Stevens years to trust a young player.

Maybe the new guy can let these bench players play together once in awhile.

With all the time Kemba missed and I think Pritchard only got like one start.

Alright folks.

Seems as though, for drinking game purposes, we're taking a drink when he says "Defence", and emptying the glass when we hear "pillars".

I'm a fan.
