The proposals here are confusing. You want the Jays to handle the chunk of offensive responsibilities so why would you trade for another guy like Wiggins who would take away their shots? We need players that are effective on off-ball movement or someone that could facilitate with the Jays.

And Smart's decline have more to do with the team's overall defensive approach. There's only much Smart can do when the rest of the team can't even guard a chair or is sitting on the sidelines because they are hurt. It's proven that he always turn it up in the post season.

I think if you’re hopping for more that a top 10 pick and a former lottery pick on an expiring contract for Smart and Thompson, you’re mistaken. I get not liking the deal — but I don’t think the value is far off.

Best Trade: Simply inform him that he is not part or our plans and get him to opt out, saving $10 M.  Then use our Trade Exception for another player.

Teams may like TT, but not as much at $10 M.  Being able to trade a player without taking back any $$$ would be a more valuable trade asset for other teams.

I've seen people saying that we should try to get him to opt out of this next year, but I believe his contract is just a straight two year contract with no player or team option. Unless we go the buy-out route, our only real option is to trade him. I get that $9.7M may be more than he is worth, but it is still a reasonable amount for an expiring player with proven championship experience. I imagine somebody will take a chance on him w/o it costing us anything (and we may even get something for him).

The Rockets can flip Thompson to a contender like the Lakers for Harrell and a 2nd.

Celtics get two tough, defensive-minded players with an edge. Bradley gives some depth as a defensive guard and shooter. House can play some small-ball 4, taking some minutes defending other teams best scoring forward. Neither player are amazing for this team, but this gives more depth and shifts the team toward defense on the ball and wing. 

I'd much rather Kyle Anderson or a player like that. I think Bradley and House could start the year as the 7th and 8th man in the rotation, but end the year under Nesmith, Langford, and Pritchard in the rotation. I don't expect a lot other than some tough-nose defense and floor-spacing, but it's pretty ideal to get some vets that are more proven. I also like getting guys with a bit of a chip on their shoulder.

they're not netting you the 8th pick in the draft.  no way Orlando would think about it.  also, we could use vet players to boost the team's production, not another rookie we need to develop

I don't think Harrell can play defense, and he doesn't stretch the floor. He's like a worse version of Richaun Holmes, regardless of the press he got for a few years in LA.

The point I was trying to make is I’d rather have the second rounder than any of the players mentioned.  That said, I think Harrell will pick up his game in a walk year after an embarrassing demotion during the playoffs for the Lakers.
