Smart
Pritchard
Yam

sign someone like E'Twaun Moore for vet min

Bottom 5 NBA PG rotation.

Build a trade around Smart, Thompson and Nesmith for Harrison Barnes and Delon Wright.

Keep shufflin’ them deck chairs.

That rotation will be even worse going by your logic.

Considering that the last four starting point guards have either been shipped out as damaged goods or walked on bad terms in free agency, I really hate it for Marcus that the narrative going into next year is already starting to get framed that he's the problem at point guard holding the team back. In reality the franchise can't keep a lead guard and the do-it-all sixth man is going to bail them out by playing out of position for a season+ since the none of the remaining full-time point guards are better at the job than he is. He'll even get to spend the season getting complained about on sports radio by warehouse workers and FedEx drivers for his trouble.
playing out of position? Do you really think he is a shooting guard?

He's absolutely a swingman, in an ideal rotation.

Based off what Udoka said, sounds like Smart is here to stay.

I’m not sure what he will command as a FA but I wonder if the coaching staff ties to the Spurs could influence the Cs to pursue a short term deal with Patty Mills?  I prefer Smart at PG and the Cs to trade/sign a swing but could also see Mills and Smart starting this season.

I’d call it more like a wash. But Celtics get by far the best player in the deal at another position of need.

What was he supposed to say? Just as likely: he was boosting Smart’s trade value.

I think the likelihood Smart is a Celtic when the trade deadline arrives next winter is incredibly low.

Obviously not ready, but what do you think of the down the road a year or two prospect of Miles McBride if the C's managed to grab a mid-late first in a trade ?

I like the profile a lot...haven't watched any film.  Seems like could be an excellent backup to Pritchard who maybe wins the job from Pritchard when ready....if Smart is not the longterm PG...

I just saw Justise Winslow has a team option. Will Memphis pick it up and pay $13M or let him walk?

What do you think his market is, and should we consider him as another wing defender and potential PG spot backup? I like his utility, but man he's inefficient. So if he's cheap, I'd give him a look, I don't know.

Too injury-prone for anything more than the vet min. Has only played 37 games in the last two seasons (significantly less than Romeo and TimeLord)
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

So... he'll be cheap  ;)

But yeah, a real concern. Just love size!

If Ainge was still around I think we'd have a real genuine look in. We all know how close Ainge came to selling the farm for Winslow (phew!)

Not sure what Brad likes yet.

If they picked up his option maybe a Thompson Winslow swap?  If they don’t pick up his option maybe he would be a nice get with the mid level exception. He has been very injured though the last couple of seasons.
