Care to explain Romeo at PG?

He played fair amount of PG in HS.  Also don't think you need a traditional PG in starting lineup.  E.g. The Philadelphia 76ers don't have one, really (Seth Curry is not a PG, is he?)  I like Romeo starting because I think he is emerging as an elite defender.  I also think Smart is better suited coming off the bench.   We have several guys who can make their own plays, and I like having a tall starting lineup that is super switchable on defense.

Sixers don't have a true starting PG and it hamstrings them in clutch times when they need to score.  Embiid would greatly benefit offensively by having a true PG.

Horford not starting over Rob Williams.

Why?

Just feel we need a rim protector in the starting lineup.  We were really vulnerable in our interior defense when Rob wasn't on the floor.

I could be persuaded to start Al, however, given his ability to stretch the defense.   I see the two of them splitting the 5 minutes pretty evenly. I don't see Al playing any 4.

I mean, is Simmons not a "true PG", just a tall one?

I remember when he was first drafted I went back and forth on this with you, with you claiming he was the legit starting PG for them and me saying he was just a point forward. But now I think I was wrong; I think he's a true PG.

I mean, how much different than prime Rondo is he? Both are excellent passers, defenders, and heady players who run a lot of the offense for the team, but are awful shooters/scorers and suspect free throw shooters. The main difference is that Simmons is a bit better defensively given his size, and Rondo was a bit more of a threat to score and less of free throw concern.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I think whatever lineup is, I want Tatum at the 3 and Brown at the 2. Or in Stevens' terms, Id want them solely playing the wing spots and no 2 ballhandler lineups.

Something like

Williams/Horford/Thompson
PF
Tatum/Fournier/Nesmith/Langford
Brown/Fournier/Langford/Langford
Smart/Pritchard

This, but with Fournier at the 3 and Brown at the 2. Fournier ain't mobile enough to stay in front of explosive guards on defense. He's also 1 inch taller than Brown. Not that it makes a big difference anyway, cause we run a switch-heavy defensive scheme.

I think it is going to be the below:

Smart
Fournier
JB
JT
Horford

Ideally, they need to make a trade for a true swing guy because the bench is bare bones as is.

Not sure Smart as our PG is going to work in the playoffs. Big Al will help with assists but we really need someone who can dish the ball out consistently game in and game out. My fear are those games where he wants to keep heaving up long bombs. His d and passion I love but just not sure he fits what we need in a pg for Tatum and Brown. If he is still on our team to begin next season, we will know for sure how Brad feels about him. I trust Brad to know how to get this team back to winning and competing for banner 18.

Is our team better with Horford as PF and TT as center?

As of now, guessing

PG- Smart- inkling trade is coming but who knows
SG- Brown
SF- Tatum
PF- Horford
C- TT

Maybe if Pritchard is ready, put him as PG and have Smart be our 6th man a la Kevin McHale. Fournier and Timelord and Romeo as our 7th and 8th and 9th should give us a decent bench potentially.

That was my thoughts as well with Parker getting the least amount of run there. Basically those four with Tatum or Brown.

This team should be a pretty good shooting team. Pritchard and Fournier are both high level catch and shoot players. Nesmith projects to be. Getting Horford as a big to stretch the floor should open things up too.

Offense projects to be much better next year.
