Oh **** yes, I'm on my knees for this appointment. Arguably one of the best offensive coaches in NBA history who doesn't marginalise wings that are capable on the ball even though he runs a lot of offence through star guards.

We can always hire good defensive coordinators (or use Brad's coaching staff, they're pretty good) to assist MDA on defence.

I would not want D'Antoni.   Just hated that Houston offense.  Hated it.

It's like MDA has never coached a free-flowing offence that opened the floodgates for the pace and space era...oh wait the Phoenix Suns exist

If I recall, D'Antoni's defenses have never been anything to write home about. He's also never led a team to the NBA Finals, much less win a title. I'm sure the team's offense would be better under him, but I don't know that the team would go farther.

teams get serious about defense in the playoffs.  Didn't the Rockets have the best defense in the bubble last playoffs?  That was a D'Antoni team.

I think D'Antoni is an excellent coach, but also a bad fit for the Celtics.
Especially with this roster. Pass.

I'm not sure if he would be...he has his iso player in JT who handles the ball a lot. He would have a solid No2 in Brown, and shooters in Fournier and Kemba (assuming he's still here). It might be a case of Brad trying to find a coach that maximizes JT's strengths, rather than trying to force the team's stars into a system that doesn't suit them.

It would suck for us as fans, because we like seeing ball movement as that's the "Celtic Way", but maybe it's a case of finding a coach that fits the strengths of your franchise player, rather than trying to make your franchise player fit a coach's system.

D'Antoni wouldn't be my first choice either, but I can see why they would be interested.

I hope this report is a false rumor. D'antoni has never sniffed a title and it's because of the style he coaches.
Tatum, Brown and especially Smart, don't need even more of a green light to jack up bad shots. They need the opposite.

Where are people getting the idea that MDA is a coach who preaches static isolation basketball and encourages his players to chuck bad shots? He's had coaching gigs outside of Houston, and last time I checked his stint in Phoenix had the ball whizzing around the court quite well.

We can also support MDA with a quality defensive coordinator and defensively-inclined assistant coaches to shore up his defensive issues.

Very curious why people think that D’Antoni sucks when he’d be a championship coach if Chris Paul didn’t have the soft tissue of a 65 year-old man. His Suns teams were legit too
