Not going to happen.. most in the US don't even know him..  probably every US star would not like him because he commands the team's plays but.... he is by far the best coach in the world.. his teams play exceptional defense..every team he has coached plays methodical and wins.. most players improve under him.. knows better than everyone eurobasketball and can bring 1,2 guys for there that can help.. will make jalen and Jason help each other through a system.. would demand a true point guard and centers who can rebound and defend.
Ask coach K and popovich about him.. ask every euro guy in the NBA about him.. he has won everything in Europe..  some of his systems are copied by nba teams.. get obradovic.. let him bring 2 3 euro guys as bench players.. misic calathes papapetrou etc.. bring a pg like ball.. he will dominate.. he is a true coach

One question from your description:

If superstars would dislike him, can he be effective in the NBA?

At this point this seems like the most important criteria sadly, players have too much power.

At this point if Jason and jslen do not learn to play through a system they are ineffective.. one stands and the other attacks

You said it yourself: ''not going to happen''. Can you imagine Obradovic constantly yelling on the sideline cause (let's say) Tatum made a bad decision out of the PnR / he didn't switch on defense / he didn't make the extra pass / you name it? The players would run him out of Boston in no time. I bet he'd be a terrific coach at the college level, but obviously why would he bother?

Fwiw, I could see Saras coaching in the NBA in a few years.

It s Zeljko Obradovic not Zelico :) Yeah, best coach in europe but NBA is a different world. Not sure how would that work out. Probably better at US college basketball as mentioned above. I think our next coach will be a guy that is similar to Brad. Brad will chose someone that share the same ideas as he does. I also think it s no one that is mentioned in the media so far. We will see, i hope soon we will now :D

David Blatt was pre-eminent European coach.

That didn't end well.

This guy looks like Bobby Knight.  Would be a disaster in the NBA. College too.

I really don’t think David Blatt is a good example to use to deter someone from hiring a European coach.

Finals appearance in his first season, then fired midway through the next with the best record in the conference.  Basically bc Lebron wanted to hire one of his buddies.

Was all the success because of Lebron and not coaching??  Most likely, so I’d just call it all a wash and say he doesn’t factor in one way or another

I think the point was that even with a really successful European* coach who was far from a tyrant, NBA superstars refused to embrace him.

I can’t imagine adding somebody more flamboyant and caustic to the mix.

* An American coach who coached in Europe

I’m a Panathinaikos fan. Zots literally coached that team to some of the greatest moments in in the franchise and made that team relevant in European basketball history.

I can certifiably tell you he is literally the worst type of coach for modern NBA players. He would literally chew these soft players out, they would resent him, and he’d get fired midway through the season. Similar to David Blatt, their coaching style works in Europe. It will not work here. I say this and I love Obradovic.

I get that.

I guess my point was, David Blatt didn’t have a chance from the start.  He was hired before Lebron came back to Cleveland, and he stood no chance.  Blatt was hired to coach a young team.  They could have a hired a young coach out of college, a Brad Stevens, and Lebron would have ran him out of town just like Blatt.

I just think it’s a poor example of how NBA players embrace a European coach
