I always respected coaches good at Xs and Os.  Always felt confident the Cs had the better coach when Brad was roaming the lines.

...having Xs and Os is important to me, but maybe in combination with another characteristic, the Cs would find the perfect recruit.

For this next Cs phase - What two characteristics do you think Cs next coach should have?  What say you?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
After the Kyrie debacle, I can't imagine the Cs go with an old white guy retread. So I went with race and presence. Presence in this case refers to former player who commands respect (see Roy's post).

Presence with Xs and Os knowledge.

Because you can find that in any of those other options.

ha ha ha...quite the list of choices in the poll. it seems to assume that someone one can NOT have gender, or, that someone can NOT have race.

it seems that each and every possible candidate will have a gender and race of some sort.  ;D

perhaps the OP could add a few others? experience as a head coach? knowledge of scouting? experience with drafting?

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Disgusting that race or gender could be (are?) genuine criteria for getting a job.

True but
…depends who you ask.  Maybe Becky Hammond might meet one requirement (Xs/Os) but not presence in the eyes of some players.
And then you’ll have make the choice; is gender higher on the list than say presence or race?….etc, etc.

This narrows the search a bit ,  this poll leads me to believe …

We need to hire  a crazy life long Celtic fan who is a black woman with a high Basketball IQ .

I am surprised this is allowed in a poll  :o :o :o.
Like really???

But if we go that way, I choose a white male: ME! (I don't think I'd be a good coach, but I'd love the experience and the money  8))

Hopefully not for much longer in the US.  The Supreme Court needs to end racial preferences forever.  But I digress.

Insert "always has been" meme here

As always, it's not that anything's changing, apart from which gender / race is seen as preferential

(and the vast vast majority of candidates continue to be white men)
